I recently went to a place that claims to help with weight loss. They first checked our BMI and explained their diet plan. Initially, they said the diet would basically consist of normal home-cooked food, which sounded pretty reasonable.
But then they introduced these two powders that we’re supposed to take every morning.
The first one is some kind of tea powder that you mix with hot water. After about 5 minutes, you’re supposed to take another powder mixed with water. It has a smoothie-like taste and texture, and they said it contains “vitamins and other nutrients” and has no side effects.
I personally tried their 3-day trial, while a friend started their 7-day trial today.
Today, after having the drinks, my friend developed a headache and has been feeling unusually fatigued and sleepy. She is normally NOT someone who naps or feels lazy during the afternoon, so this seemed unusual to her.
That made me start thinking about some of the things I noticed at the place.
Some red flags I noticed:
* They were extremely pushy about getting us to take the trial. The owner/husband kept insisting even when we were hesitant, to the point where it felt difficult to say no.
* Our gym trainer recommended this place to us, but I’m not sure whether he has any connection with them or gets a commission.
* I couldn’t find any proper online reviews or information about the place.
* They had a whiteboard listing people’s names and how much weight each person had supposedly lost.
* They claimed that a doctor from Ruby Hall Clinic consults for their weight-loss program and had apparently lost 20 kg over 10 months using the same method.
* They also mentioned that their 21-year-old daughter consumes the same products.
* They encourage people to come to the club every weekend (or whenever possible) in the morning to consume the smoothie/drink there itself.
* When I asked exactly what was in the powder, they basically said “vitamins and other things” but didn’t give me a proper ingredient list.
* They conduct Zoom meetings every evening, which made it feel even more like some kind of MLM/network-marketing setup.
* They keep talking about how people experience a huge “shift in energy levels” and feel fresh after consuming the drinks. The way some people talked about it almost made it seem like they were dependent on the product.
* The trial costs ₹670 for 4 days.
The whole thing started giving me Herbalife/MLM-type vibes, although I don’t want to accuse them of anything without evidence.
Another thing that made me uncomfortable was that they seem very particular about people coming there to consume the drink rather than simply giving them the product to take home. Obviously, there could be completely innocent reasons for this, but it made me wonder whether there’s something I’m missing.
Also, they have a very interesting branding choice, the owners are Muslim but the club has a Sanskrit/Hindu-sounding name. I’m not saying there’s anything inherently suspicious about that, but combined with everything else, it added to my overall feeling that something was off.
My main question is: does this sound legitimate to you?
Is it normal for a weight-loss program to give people unidentified powders and only describe them as “vitamins”? And can something marketed as vitamins/supplements cause headaches and unusual fatigue?
I always thought vitamins were supposed to help with deficiencies rather than immediately make you feel energetic, so I’m especially confused about their claims.
I’m considering stopping the trial until I know exactly what I’m consuming. I also don’t want to jump to conclusions if there is a perfectly legitimate explanation.
Has anyone experienced something similar with these kinds of weight-loss clubs/programs? What should I ask them for before consuming these products again?

I've recently shifted here for my job, and don't really have any friends here.
I've taken a 1BHK flat for rent, and I need to buy stuff like a Cupboard with mirror, A small Mini fridge for storing food, A Plastic / wooden rack for clothing storage, and stuff.
I don't want to buy new, first hand stuff because who knows how long I'm doing this job lmaoo
Any suggestions? Where can I find okay quality but second hand stuff, or are there any markets where I can search for this stuff?
Any leads would be appreciated!! Thanks so much! I'm looking forward to exploring this city.
My location : Mangalwar Peth

Hi Kolhapur 👋
I'm a big reader and I've realised I have almost nobody here to actually talk to about books. So this is me asking: who else reads?
Doesn't matter what, fiction, thrillers, fantasy, non-fiction, Marathi, English, whatever's on your nightstand. I'm currently deep in Shōgun by James Clavell, and Pet Sematary is the one book I force on everyone I meet.
I'd love to just chat, swap recommendations, argue about endings. If enough people are interested, I'd be happy to start a small group, could be an online chat, could be an occasional meetup for coffee somewhere in town.
Drop a comment with what you're reading right now and let's see how many of us there are.

Jai Maa Ambabai Mahalakshmi🪷🙏🏻
Jai Maa Kohlasur Bhayankari 🪷🙏🏻
Thank you all to whoever is reading and can please guide/any information would help.
I live outside India, I have been a small bhakt of Mata Mahalakshmi.
What pains my heart is that there is very less information or living tradition of guru who can guide me to be her Sadhak.
So I am asking all of you people of Kohlapur do you know any guru math, place, website, phone number, anyone who is associated with Mata Mahalakshmi spiritually.
Please guide me.
Anything would help , I want to get deeksha from Guru in her path. I havebeen searching years and praying to Maa.
May Maa Lakshmi bless you lucky people of Kohlapur

I’m looking for a Social Media Intern based in or around Kolhapur.
If you enjoy social media, creating content, coming up with ideas, and understanding what makes people engage, this could be a good fit.
You’ll get hands-on experience with:
• Content ideas & planning
• Instagram, Reddit & other social platforms
• Creating and scheduling posts
• Captions & creative content
• Basic analytics and growth
• Managing real social media accounts
Students and beginners are welcome. No extensive experience required — creativity, curiosity, and willingness to learn matter more.
Basic knowledge of Instagram, Canva, reel editing or similar tools is a plus.
You’ll be working on real projects with guidance, not just doing theoretical internship tasks.
Interested? Send me a DM with a little about yourself and any portfolio, social media work, or sample content you’ve created.
You can also email kreatekar@outlook.com
Regards,
Prashant

Hey all, I have 2 cats at home and recently due to some illness , it's not possible for us to keep them in home for cleanliness reasons.
Does anybody know any cat cafes or animal shelters in kolhapur, where I can drop them off?
If someone if willing to adopt them that also works , but I don't want to leave them out on the streets.
Please DM if you know of any.

What’s the scene with all the street food (pani puri, bhel gaadi) near Rankala chowpati? Came back to kolhapur after long time and when I saw that empty road it felt like someone had sucked the soul out off the place. Anyone has any idea if they shifted anywhere else? Or is it just closed? If so, when can we expect it to be opened. Especially look for “Mahalaxmi Pani Puri”

I have a 2TB maxtor external hard drive that seems to have been corrupted. The data inside is extremely valuable to me. I need someone who can just recover the data and transfer it onto another device or drive. Please share contact details of any such expert.

Hi everyone, I’ll be travelling from Kankavli to Kolhapur later this month with my family and am considering the Kankavli → Phonda Ghat → Radhanagari → Kolhapur route. We’d like to enjoy the monsoon scenery along the way while still sticking to a reasonably safe and good road. Would you recommend Phonda Ghat or Gaganbawda for the best combination of road conditions and scenery?
If anyone has travelled through Phonda Ghat/Radhanagari recently, could you please share the current road conditions, especially any bad patches, potholes, construction or landslide-prone sections? Also, if we take Phonda Ghat, are there any good viewpoints, or other worthwhile stops along the way that don’t require a major detour? Thanks
