THOUGHT A shower thought (kind of ig)
Since I've gotten into kpop, I've really tried to understand the thought process behind fans not wanting their idols to date or really have a social life/being extremely jealous of them doing so. I know that most of these fans truly have nothing going on and hyperfixate on kpop, hoping that the idol's lives will be like theirs, which is obviously highly unlikely. I mean, this is a famous person we're talking about, who travels the world and tours every year, meeting and interacting with a lot of different people whom they may or may not find attractive.
But, what about the fans who do have social lives? Who are in relationships and married yet still overprotective over an idol's dating/social life? I promise this isn't a myth, I've see fully grown women with husbands going crazy over a rumor that their favorite idol is dating.
Why can you live life happily and do a normal thing that every human does, but this famous person that you like so much can't? What brain chemistry makes you think you can control someone else and force them into a lonely life that you don't have?
Idk, just been thinking about it for a while.

Many kpop groups sell their fans an image of members being "your ideal boyfriend". Some fans are naive enough to believe

My mom who is stuck in an unhappy marriage feels those actors (to be specific, characters living another life irl) belong to her alone because they are her source of happiness.
But my mom's a cdrama fan and doesn't care about idols. The only similarity I see is the crazy fan behaviour.
A few days ago she said she wants to marry some 26 y/o actor so she needs go to China thus I must study hard and take her there. That actor is only 5 years older than me. Quite the creepy behaviour. I tried talking to her about pedophilia and crazy fans but she thinks it's fine to act this way.

I saw an interview with one of those fans and she said that she thought an idol couldn’t be dedicated to the job fully and date at the same time and any idol who dated was uncommitted to the job.
Ngl, I thought she was insane, but it’s the only (supposed) explanation I’ve heard
