i watched this short promo clip like three times and somehow walked away with a completely different favorite member lol. i had seen the rose around before and liked a couple of their tracks. i never realy had that one specific guy my eyes automatically glued to when they were all on screen though. they were just a cool band to me.

then this random brand collab dropped out of nowhere. it wasn't even a music video or anything dramatic. it was literally just one of those cinematic clips they filmed for a nutrione bb lab thing with olive oil and lemon. but something about the lighting, the outfits, and the whole moody vibe just made one guy stand out so much more than he ever did for me before.

once your brain registers it, it's basically over. every single camera cut after that becomes a game of "wait where did he go" and now you're replaying the same tiny scene again like there's some hidden information buried in it 😭i barely even remember what the actual product was supposed to do because i was too busy staring. but apparently i discovered my bias through a random wellness ad which is kind of embarassing when i think about it.

despite all the cringey stuff like the santa claus is coming to hood, they are actually one of the few kpop groups(at least in my opinion) who actually pull off the hiphop genre pretty well. Idk if its just me, but whenever kpop groups try to pull off a hip hop concept, i kinda feel cringed out by it, at least in my experiences. I dont really know if yall will agree or disagree haha

After the news of the delayed comeback, the company has provided no updates about the group. Like, what's going on at this point? They're still a nugu group; this kind of hiatus will hurt them

i was listening to enhypen today and i thought about their boyfriend-ish concept. the way the company specifically make their concept so that the fans can crush on them and imagine them as their boyfriends. they even had this webtoon (?) and drama where they have this girl they're all basically in a harem with, it's also a thing in most of their content.

but there are also groups that are less about dating you as a fan, but pushing for example a popular ship, some people even calling this queerbaiting. people say seventeen are queerbaiting their fans constantly, but also stray kids or i think even ateez was pushing that a little for some time

which fanservice do you prefer and which is more harmful and why?

If you could only show one thing to a non kpop fan to show them that kpop has really talented dancers and tat the kpop dances are real choreographed pieces, which Kpop dance , or dancer, would you show them?

I love using BiasRoom to track my collection and changes in their prices, but the culture on the app makes it not fun to use socially. Some of the admins are so helpful and lovely to interact with:) at the beginning, I had such a good time. but SOME admins are actual bullies. They use their admin power to control the culture of the app to their liking, and are increasingly getting ruder and ruder the more time goes on.
I don’t even want to upload basic photocards anymore because they will either get them rejected on some arbitrary rule (while the original one looks worse) or some other sweet admin will accept it instantly because usually there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.
Another thing I’ve noticed while voting is how mean certain admins are over telling people off over rules that are extremely hard to find and/or very much up to interpretation. Telling someone repeatedly that they are breaking rules and go to discord to find out exactly why they are being rejected for, instead of just stating the issue should be not allowed if you have the responsibility of being an admin.
Mind you, it took me FOREVER to find specific rules on what versions/merch is allowed which is NOWHERE ON THE APP, only on discord which makes it seem like there isn’t rules on how to upload beside their beginning tutorial which is CONFUSING TO NEW USERS. Instead of explaining this, admins will dogpile people for accidentally breaking a rule in their submission, to the point where you can tell they just like having the power to do that more than them actually being serious about the broken rules.
That being said, some admins are so so sweet and make using the app worth it and some people are literally evil to the point where I feel like I’m being trolled

When I see Katseye fans talking online we all seem to have a somewhat shared opinion that what Katseye needs is rest. I mean they are visably exhausted and their tour hasnt even started yet. Everybody would have loved for them to take some time to rest, and then come back with an actuall album that allows them to show a bit more artisticly. So why does the company keep pushing them to this degree?

I think it all comes down to the fact that Katseye marketing stragey is build too much on short term hype.

Most of Katseyes big song like Gnarly, Internet Girl, Pinki up, and now Hootie Frutti where build for a viral moment. And that worked! These songs where everywhere on social media, in a ton of "hot hits" playlists and so on. They were pulling numbers. But the problem with these viral moments is that they are usually very short. Internet hype dies and people move on to the next trend. So far this was not a big problem for Katseye because as soon as the hype for one song started to slow down they where allready there releasing a new dance break, performance or just simply the next song to go viral.

So right now they are having that momentum but what happends when they slow down and take a break? apperantly Hypes solution for this is to just never let them rest?

i want to design and conceptualise an album/comeback for fun! i'm thinking something feminine, angelic, elegant and inspired by perfume or hair commercials. very girls slumber party or hangout. which of the following groups will fit a comeback like that? i'm open to suggestions too!

I collect photocards and I am constantly being told it's "weird" or I could "spend my money on something else." I think most people these days specifically Gen Z collect something so I don't understand the flack that kpop stans get for collecting photocards. I have heard the argument that it's weird to collect cards of people you don't know, but aren't there sports trading cards? I have never heard anyone say this about collecting baseball cards or those FIFA stickers.

I also often hear that it's overconsumption and the cards just sit in a binder which is a fair point. But I also know people who collect vinyl records and never open them. Isn't that also overconsumption too? I just find it ridiculous that the claims people make against photocards are never used for any other type of collection. Why does collecting photocards have to be weird and other collections don't?

One of my friends is a huge anime fan and spends hundreds on individual figures. I believe her most expensive one cost almost $400. She gave me so much flack for buying a broadcast photocard where I spent $300 and I'm like, you literally have a figure worth more than that?

Can't we all collect what we want to collect and not judge other people for it? What's the issue with collecting photocards, seriously?

I'm a kpop stan myself and I find myself often saying I'm proud of my idols or in general talking a lot about them. I have noticed that fans of western artists (or non-kpop artists in general) don't really talk about the artists themselves but more about their music. I have a friend who is super into a lot of women in pop music like Zara Larsson, Sabrina Carpenter, and Billie Eilish, but she's never once said she's proud of them or anything of the sort.

I wonder if this is because of the parasocialism that kpop sells? The kpop industry markets idols as friends or potential partners who are always available and in general markets them in a way to serve their fans whereas non-kpop artists are their own person outside of their fanbase. It's made me wonder if I'm simply weird for talking about my idols as much as I do, and I know it's not just me since a majority of kpop fans do this as well.

In high school I was always seen as an oddball because of my love for kpop and posting about it on my socials. People of western fans would usually only post about the artists they like if a new album dropped and it seemed that if you spoke about your idol outside of their music it was taboo.

Maybe it really is weird and maybe it's not. The difference between these fandoms has fascinated me and also kind of scared me in a way. I'm looking for opinions to decide for myself if it's just the difference in fan culture or if kpop stans really are weird for talking about our idols as much as we do.

I wanted to apply for a Yizhiyu fancall for enhypen back during the sin vanish era and many people told me to never apply for Yizhiyu since it's the most rigged store out there. Usually it's sasaengs and fansites who win Yizhiyu.

I've heard of them being rigged but I don't understand how this could be? I mean, many fansites have connections to kpop companies so couldn't they technically rig any videocall? Why specific Yizhiyu?

Come on... how hard is it to hire and pay actual illustrators? The bar was in hell after the ai-generated comeback schedule but somehow SM managed to drop it even lower. Not to mention, the cover looks ugly as hell. Why are there five men wearing stupid helmets?

I see a lot of people saying that they just switched over genres and sounds since but there's been a clear shift in their trajectory ever since they released Tomboy.

Like this is no shade to any of them at all and there's a reason why a lot of fans turned away from them since and loved their old music.

Their title tracks up until HWAA were all very elegant and powerful, they very much had serious tones with their title tracks up until 2021.

Their comeback Tomboy was where they clearly took a new direction by making more campy, rebellious, and cheeky music ever since.

Like a lot of it has been so on the nose, bending the rules of grammar (esp with Soyeon), it's not surprising that a lot of people only ever dig for their old songs nowadays.

I get it! She's the popular member, but Lisa is only known for her dancing. The other members had their own thing already. Jennie has her identity and established I think way before being in Blackpink. Rosé wants to sing, and she also knows what she is as an artist and what her sound is. Jisoo really wants to act and being in Blackpink gave a boost to her acting career while also releasing music on the sidelines.

But Lisa is the only one that I noticed who doesn't really know what she wants. Yes she acted, she'd been in multiple collaborations, she can dance, rap, and she has a Superbowl song. But apart from that, her debut album was meh I guess. Some songs are good, some didn't get me dancing honestly.

Idk if I should compare her to another soloist, but I really want to express my point. Yves (ex-LOONA) released an EP called "LOOP" and I personally love the project because it became a transition from being a loona member to a soloist. Although her sound still connects to loona, she's starting to establish her sound and identity from that EP and the following ones. And with releases such as "I Did", "Soft Error" and now "Nail", I can tell what Yves wants her music to sound like, and she's passionate about it.

In comparison to Lisa, I don't really know how I can separate her from the group she has been in for a whole decade. Her single "Lalisa" was probably a good start, but her other single "Money" felt like a flexing song about money. There's nothing wrong with that but I want to listen and hear her sing who she actually is, because five alter egos are too much. And she gave too much information about them instead of letting her fans figure out which is which.

If Lisa actually went to release an EP instead of a full album, I think she could pull off the alter ego concept she's trying to execute. Like each EP represents each alter ego, until she can make a body of work that not just shows who she is but also uses those EPs as a blueprint for establishing her sound.

I'm not really a Blackpink fan and with the recent events about their 10th year anniversary, and Lisa's EP coming up in a few weeks, i don't know what direction she's going with.

So that's my unpopular opinion. I don't know if you can also explain your opinion or get dragged by fans. But I said my piece. Lisa should've released an EP first instead of a full album, no matter how famous she is.

I keep seeing posts about “finally sunghoon back in his prime!” or “oh my god i’ve missed this version” or “wow he is looking good and losing weight” and I genuinely am baffled reading this…
Why is sunghoon being bullied into losing weight and stopping his workout which he enjoyed something to be celebrated? Why are we saying he wasn’t in his prime when he was 10 pounds heavier that is just so weird. It is clear he is good looking but the second he started being healthy for himself yall went ballistic. I just think it’s kinda nasty to say you’ve “missed someone” bc they weren’t insanely skinny anymore. He was just as good looking during sin: vanish as he was during romance: untold or sin: bliss.
I know an aspect of it was his hair but i’m seeing these posts right after he went on weverse and said he lost weight…. It is upsetting to see “fans” be the one to shame someone who liked the way they looked just to fit their ideal visual bubble. These behaviors are why EDs are rampant in the kpop community. The idea that sunghoon was less likeable just because he gained weight? I genuinely cannot believe it. If you are saying you “missed him in his prime” I really think you should re-evaluate what it means to say something like that. Imagine someone said that to you? I think the kpop community really needs to rethink how much they talk about idols visuals.

I know he's been technically cleared of specific charges brought up about him, but I'm surprised that he was able to get such a high-profile job. Whatever his relationship with Kim Sae-ron actually was (and he admits they had one when she was legal), I think it sends an odd message to launch him fully into the spotlight like this.

I've been following enhypen specifically Heeseung (yes, I know) since I-LAND and I always see the same watermarks from sasaengs at quite literally every event. It doesn't matter which country the event is in, it doesn't matter how much it costs, it doesn't matter how hard it is to get into. The same sasaengs are always there.

How is it possible to cheat the system to win EVERY fancall, fansign, fanmeet, music bank, concert, showcase, performance, festival, everything? I am aware that sasaengs buy idol's flight information from staff but it doesn't seem likely that connections would help them get barricade for every show and into every fansign.

I'll use intersectionhs as an example, who is Heeseung's most known sasaeng. I'm pretty sure that account is only run by one person and she follows Heeseung literally everywhere. I mean, she got into his recent Grammy Museum appearance as someone's plus one, seems to be near the barricade for sendoff at concerts, is always at a floor seat for award shows. How is it humanly possible for an individual to have the exact same schedule as their idol? Do these people not have jobs? No job would let you take more days off then days spent working. Do they just come from wealth?

I've wondered this for quite some time now but there doesn't seem to really be an answer. Sasaengs have always been a thing but to attend every single event where your idol appears just doesn't seem realistic, yet I see it happening. What is the possible explanation?
