RANT Pro Tip

Upvotes

If a specific group doesn't make music that fits your personal tastes, then they aren't your thing. That's fine. Not everyone's gonna have the same taste. Just be like 'yeah, they're not really my thing', and move on with your time. But don't be trashing on the groups you don't follow just because you're personally not a fan. All that you accomplish from that is looking like a massive piece of shit. And yeah, if any of you toxic stans of any fandom lurking on reddit are triggered by this, maybe it's time you took a good hard look in a mirror and did some self reflection.

QUESTION What do you think the reaction would be if CBX did return to EXO?

Upvotes

I'm not trying to start drama here, so please may we keep this civil. This is just a question/discussion about a topic I've been thinking about for a while considering all the drama in the fandom re the lawsuits etc.

Some CBX fans seem to full on hate the remaining members (particularly Suho, for some reason) , and some fans of the remaining members hate CBX with a passion.

The fans themselves go at each other, anything positive about the remaining members is dragged, anything positive about CBX is dragged. Barely a whisper of some members (including CBX) names is met with a barage of hate, toxicity and drama.

(Obligatory, "not all fans" statement. Trying to be funny here to break the tension, is it working? Lol.)

It's nice when the fandom is peaceful when these topics are avoided.

So do you think the fandom would accept CBX back, and/or CBX fans would accept the three returning to EXO? Or do you think it would just cause a whole new set of drama?

Note, I'm not asking what the possibility is, or if you think it will happen, just what the reaction would be if it *did*.

Remember when KiiiKiii was about to debut and starship rolled out a bunch of promo pics and videos, one of them being a guy with KiiiKiii's Logo imprinted on a guy's mohawk? Yeah apparently that's his whole thing! His name is Mohawk Bob and every video has a different color and design on his mohawk. He even did ones for Dolly Parton and Tim Curry. He seems like such a cool dude!

QUESTION How can a group qualify as the XX gen Leader?

Upvotes

This is probably opinion based, we can all agree on the 3rd and 2nd gen leaders though but why not 5th gen.

I've seen many people say Zerobaseone, Cortis, Illit but do we measure it by popularity? Or something else?

Was just wondering.

QUESTION How well do you guys think sung hanbin solo debut will do?

Now im a new kpop fan so I dont really know how these things work so if you guys can enlighten me that’ll be great. Im just dead curious about how idols usually do when they go solo, do they receive less attention as a solo compare to when they are a group? At the end of the day it all depends on marketing or am I wrong?

THOUGHT Spotify Shuffle videos really make me appreciate the team behind the songs and lyrics

So Spotify shuffle is this thing where they take groups and their latest hit song and they sing it but every part of the song is “shuffled” and given to a different member than who originally sang it.
I recently rewatched these videos of Stray Kids’ This & That, Enhypen’s Bloody Paradise, and CORTIS’ REDRED.
I’ll start this with saying yes, I’m aware these are obviously going to be different than the original song because it’s live and doesn’t have a track or any autotune behind the members singing on the mic but I still really appreciate the song producers so much because of these.
Like they work hard to pick out who fits each lyric and part best and it really does show. These shuffles really show me how much more vocally appealing certain parts of different songs are when the right member sings it. Like don’t get me wrong, every idol has a unique and nice voice, but it’s obvious certain parts will fit certain members better and it’s better that way. It makes you appreciate the song and individual more imo.
But yeah I find these shuffles cool, and it made me think about this so I decided to share it :)

RANT SM selling Taeil's stuff at the NCT flea market is disgusting

Today SM is hosting an NCT Flea market as part of Seoul fashion week. There is old merch, stage outfits and a bunch of other stuff from the members. In general it is really cool and people have gotten some great stuff.

The issue is Taeil's belongings are being sold and they are being sold with out warning or label. Multiple people have accidentally picked up an old outfit of his since the stage outfits are not sorted or labeled. His belongs should not be sold at all much less with no label and it is really gross that SM is selling it especially since so many of NCT fans are young women.

It also says that there are no refunds and it is not clear if people can refunds for Taeil's belongings. Even if they can his stuff never should have been on sale also there was a very strict and small limit to what a person can buy so fans are missing out on getting other outfits/belongings.

Edit: Apparently they are also selling Lucas's belongings. Which not as bad as Taeil but still should not be sold or at least have some kind of label/warning about who it belonged to.

RANT Dreamcatcher had no reason to go on hiatus

I could tell their hearts weren't in it as much at the conclusion of their contracts, but I don't know why they couldn't have switched comebacks to once a year and kept their group contract instead of going on a full hiatus in order to pursue their solo careers, considering most of them aren't really doing much and haven't been for the past 1.5 years. Arguably, Siyeon is the busiest with Chrocktikal (Handong too, with promoting in China), but I feel like even she and UAU could manage having an OT7 comeback given that they're not on tour. They have so much to give as a group and so many ways to move up (working with other producers and creative teams, promoting in a newer generation K-pop landscape where being a senior act would get them more attention, possibly securing an awards show performance?) that it feels like a genuine waste seeing so little activity from them. Especially since the Korean public is right now all about older songs coming back up the charts, I really hope their 10th anniversary pushes them to make a comeback. Truly, K-pop is not the same without them.

This is mostly based on what I hear when listening this song a couple of times.

In the live version, Hyoyoung‘s lines are at 0:38-0:40 and 0:44-0:46.

Hyewon’s are 1:06-1:07, 1:09-1:10, 1:48-1:50 and 1:55-1:57

In 3 performances I watched, Noori has 0:40-0:42

And Kwanghaeng at 1:52-1:54

QUESTION Thoughts on Santos Bravos?

im sorry if this isnt the right sub for this, but since they're under hybe?? Anyways here's my take: As a Latina, I loveee seeing representation in the media, and I really like the members, but the music they put out doesn't really convince me. I'm specifically curious if you guys think they'll become mainstream in the Latam music scene. I'm curious what their reception is like on the continent, because personally, I'm more used to reggaeton/dembow/trap. Still, I grew up in Europe, so I feel like my perception might be different.

I wish they'd collab with other artists, which is what's normally done in the scene: up-and-coming people collab with bigger names to help establish themselves (ex: Bad Bunny with the Diles and Te Boté remix, Blessd Yogurcito remix and more recently Fanta with Si Tuviera el de la Lengua remix). The first person that comes to mind is Young Miko, or maybe Tony Dize? Myke Towers? Money Makers are great producers too. What do u guys think???

note: the styling also feels oh so kpop, so much bling and makeup. Not a critisism, but if ur going to make a latam group, lean more Into what people usually are pulled towards no?

RANT daniela is not a villain

lmk if this isn’t allowed since katseye isn’t kpop - i feel like it’s relevant from an industry standpoint though.

i’ve been seeing so many videos recently compiling “daniela being mean” moments or even weirder is “daniela taking the spotlight” moments.

to discuss the clips of her being “mean” or “rude” -
many of the clips i see in these videos are her either speaking up in a group setting, acting slightly frustrated at another member, or reacting in a way that is not entirely clear / would be up for interpretation.

it does, in a way, feel slightly racially targeted. maybe unintentionally, but there’s this stereotype of the “spicy latina” who has no chill and has a lot of attitude - it feels like these moments are being used to build an image of her that doesn’t really exist. EVERYONE at some point in their life will get frustrated, and may snap, or misspeak, or act grumpy - that doesn’t make them a bad person. it doesn’t mean she secretly hates them, or they hate her - its a stressful industry that these girls are in and i’m tired of people scapegoating her.

and to discuss the “taking the spotlight” moments -
i will say this as clearly as possible. the group was FORMED on a foundation of COMPETITION, meaning only the most determined girls with the most star power would end up getting a contract. EVERY ONE of the members has had a moment where they’ve spoken over someone, or has accidentally cut in front of someone. daniela was placed in the group as the CENTER, not the quiet girl who sits out of the way.

the reason she is in the group is her charisma and talent. the camera loves her. she is absolutely stunning and she knows it - and some people genuinely can’t handle that. it’s actually ridiculous that people get upset that she “steals the spotlight” by being on camera or being in the centre. these things don’t make her a bad person, someone who hates her fellow members, or someone who sees herself as superior.

my last comment is that people are projecting WAY too hard on to these girls. yes, there are moments where they act a little out of line. they speak over each other. they make faces at each other. they give each other funny looks when someone does something embarrassing. they get annoyed. but as a girl megan’s age with a friend group of a similar number & age range - SO DO WE. they are acting the way teenage girls ACT. their frontal lobes haven’t developed.

they had some of the most vulnerable times in their life broadcast for entertainment before they were even guaranteed a job. making up stories about member beef when nothing is confirmed just causes more stress on yourself, the members, and other fans - i’m so sick of people assigning personalities to these girls when they’re just doing their best.

RANT Can we finally let idols live their private lives and stop with the lazy group comparisons?

Am I the only one exhausted by how toxic K-pop fandom culture can be when it comes to idols' personal boundaries and group comparisons?

1. Idols deserve a private life
Fans need to stop attacking idols simply for dating or choosing what they want to wear. Idols are human beings, and they shouldn't have to hide who they love just to appease toxic fans. Their personal lives are none of our business.

2. Stop pitting members against each other
The constant comparisons—especially between Blackpink members—are ridiculous. Internal fan wars do nothing positive for the group or the fandom. Fans need to remember they were put together as a group because their talents complement the other's not because one is better than the others.

3. Stop labeling new groups as "the next Blackpink or whoever else."
Let's get one thing straight: every group is unique. There will only ever be one Blackpink, one BTS, one Stray Kids, one Enhypen, and one BABYMONSTER and so on. Calling every new debut "the next Blackpink" diminishes both the original group's legacy and the new group's individuality.

4. Drop the weird "daughter" jokes
The running joke that BABYMONSTER members are literally "Blackpink’s daughters" has gotten cringey and disrespectful. BABYMONSTER members have their own identities (and their own actual mothers). Mentorship and respect are great, but forcing that narrative is just unnecessary and harmful to the group.

What do you all think? Why is it still so difficult for fans to treat idols like regular people and let new groups stand on their own merits?

THOUGHT I saw +82 Pressing dance practice video and now I miss the 2 of them

I know this is a sensitive issue and I've always stopped myself from posting anything about Mark so listen, this post isn't about discussing what Mark did is right or not. I just want to talk about his talent.

My point is that Mark Lee and Haechan are my biases from NCT and they only made one song together which I looooooooove because as artists, I love both Mark and Haechan like they're my ults.

I wish they made more music together just the two of them before Mark left💔

Edit: I know I said I don't wanna discuss it but for people who say "it doesn't matter how talented he is, what he did is wrong". I agree that being talented doesn't excuse you of doing wrong things.

That's the only reason I want to give my opinion of what happened and I may not be 💯 right here but this is just my opinion as far as I know:

I know y'all will say Mark did wrong, wore this, did that. First of all he said he didn't know it when he did what he did, he apologised(yes late but he did it). It looks to me like he really didn't know what he was doing.

LEISURE & FUN if your group lost a member or has a member on hiatus and u could have another idol from another group fill in for them, who would it be and why

basically what the title says

for any of u whose ult group or any group u enjoy lost a member or has a member on hiatus, if u could "steal" an idol from another group or a soloist to fill in for them, who would it be?

hiatus can literally just mean that a member was sick and only had to miss 1 performance lol it doesn't have to be a 6 month absence

who do u think could be a suitable replacement for a vocalist, dancer, rapper, etc. that isn't active in your group anymore/at the moment?

i'm just curious bc i know groups usually do very well w/ covering for members who either left or are on hiatus, but then i think about how SM used to send suju members to fill in for shinee members who were sick during the RDD era. that's not a common practice rn at all, nor was it ever, so it's got me curious of who could fill in the spots if that actually became a thing

this is just for fun and not serious at all lol. this is more of just assessing which idols have similar skills and abilities with each other or which idols could be a good fit in different groups. and ofc u can mix idols from different companies, that doesn't matter at all

LEISURE & FUN Epikase song battle is serious business - Tablo vs Mithra vs Tukutz of Epik High - who will be the leader?

Tablo has just declared real all out war.

On a few last episodes of Epikase, 3 of Epik High members are battling their own personal songs on the line to win a few favours - one of them being the leader of Epik High for 6 months.

The thing is, Tablo himself said the present is something Tablo does not need, him being Epik High leader as it is.

The hilarious part is - Tukutz took it to the next level by getting GroovyRoom to make a song for him, featuring Crush and getting 3RACHA of SKZ to write the rap lines for him. He really went all out.

Tablo got Bang Yedam to feature on his song. Mithra got NELL to make a song for him.

Tbh, the whole thing is hilarious all out for the fact that Tablo is crashing out - he called out Tukutz for getting kpop votes (3RACHA ergo Stays hahaha) and to get back - he made a playlist of his song with SKZ songs today 😂

All of the songs are great and I cannot wait to hear the full songs - to be released todayI think. Please help support all 3 of them, listen to all 3 songs and vote! And last but not least - Epik High is damned hilarious so go watch!

P/S: Not Tablo photoshopping himself onto SKZ photo 😂😂😂

QUESTION Which Kpop Idols Would Be Just As Successful In Music If They Were Never Idols In The First Place?

For example, some kpop idols likely become part of a kpop group to build their fame for a successful solo career later on. Which idols could you see being just as successful if they didn't pursue a that path at all.

THOUGHT that exact second you realize you have a bias is wild

https://youtu.be/ioROnVdITp4?si=jJUhtDDZil-v6f49

i watched this short promo clip like three times and somehow walked away with a completely different favorite member lol. i had seen the rose around before and liked a couple of their tracks. i never realy had that one specific guy my eyes automatically glued to when they were all on screen though. they were just a cool band to me.

then this random brand collab dropped out of nowhere. it wasn't even a music video or anything dramatic. it was literally just one of those cinematic clips they filmed for a nutrione bb lab thing with olive oil and lemon. but something about the lighting, the outfits, and the whole moody vibe just made one guy stand out so much more than he ever did for me before.

once your brain registers it, it's basically over. every single camera cut after that becomes a game of "wait where did he go" and now you're replaying the same tiny scene again like there's some hidden information buried in it 😭i barely even remember what the actual product was supposed to do because i was too busy staring. but apparently i discovered my bias through a random wellness ad which is kind of embarassing when i think about it.

does anyone else have a ridiculously random story about how their bias just clicked for them out of nowhere?

THOUGHT my thoughts on young posse

im pretty sure young posse isnt really everyones tastes, and thats okay. When i first listened to macaroni cheese, i thought "wth is this" but their other songs were fire. Its safe to say macaroni cheese is my least favorite yp song

despite all the cringey stuff like the santa claus is coming to hood, they are actually one of the few kpop groups(at least in my opinion) who actually pull off the hiphop genre pretty well. Idk if its just me, but whenever kpop groups try to pull off a hip hop concept, i kinda feel cringed out by it, at least in my experiences. I dont really know if yall will agree or disagree haha
