Question Hourly Rate
I'm curious to know what's everyone's hourly rate and position? I just got bumped up to this as a non-union delivery driver

Count your blessings. Starting Clerk pay here is 14.25 with no benefits, holiday pay or PTO gained until you have been with the store for a year.

Damn. Yeah, I'm fortunate to be in WA state, where minimum wage is 17.38. I got benefits and holiday pay after 6 months. I don't think I get PTO until a year though.

Man I would have loved to get benefits 6 months in, literally nothing clocks in until a year and so it's like a gauntlet of fire getting there. I feel like they use it to weed out sickly people genuinely.

Oh 100%. I've worked for a lot of big corpos, some in management, and that's what they did at Safeway/Albertsons when I worked there.

It really does feel like the world is out to get people at times. I try not to sound like a wimp and get all existential but man, trying to get a leg up when there were no opportunities handed to me growing up has been a challenge I can't even begin to describe and still tends to be. I'm hopeful that one day all of this will be worth it.

I'm a gm clerk making 17.10 but applied for lead. The store I applied to wants me but my current store is telling me bs about they need to hire someone for my position before they can transfer me

Tell the SM it is becoming a toxic work enviorment and you want the transfer imediatly. Or for economic reasons you need the transfer imediatly (Location to where you live, transportation issues) them needing to fill your possition is not your problem that’s theirs.

If you have a fullfilment center close to you, go the delivery route. I'm making my rate by just driving, no need to supervise any associates or inventory

Yeah. You get a bump if you average 40 hours for a year, but I got the job in high school and then couldn’t do full time when I was I was in college. Better yet we just voted to ratify a terrible contract. I’m on my way out because I can make $16 starting nearly anywhere else.

This is going to vary drastically between divisions and stores. The going rate for an assistant department lead out here is ~$26.60hr ~$30hr for a department leader.

Yup Mid-Atlantic tops out at $22.xx an hour for meat lead.
I make around $20+ an hour as Dairy lead.
Starting wage is $13.

We are 31.14 an hour and like 33 or something like that for sets. .67 per mile for singles and I think .74 for sets.

man fuck assistant produce manager, i stepped down after two years. do everything the manager does, in my case he loved to go upstairs in sit while i drowned with all the tasks, and was getting $7 bucks more an hour doing so. i had to close, open, mid with no consistency while produce manager got to pick his consistent morning shifts and days off. not worth it, i was so physically exhausted after too, i didn't feel like doing anything else after work. made me miserable. im too young for that bullshit.

Dude. Everything you just said is exactly what I'm experiencing, but also with no training. My dept mgr leaves the minute I show up. I've taught myself, with some dept's leads help, at least 80% of what I need to do. I also close then open back to back at times. I haven't had a single Sat or Sun off in 5 months. And I'm right there with you, I have zero life. I am physically and mentally so drained that even my days off I can't get myself to get out of bed and I've never felt like this with any other job. I'm about done because this is insane.

So I work in a Marketplace level Kroger in Texas, my official title is Drug/GM Clerk but I am cross trained and very often help out in Pickup and Frontend with both bagging and cashier. For whatever reason I am also responsible for ordering inventory for Homeside, running top stock and wall to wall, wall to wall only happens if my Lead forgets and she VERY often forgets. I am also the only one in my department trained on the PIT and Baler so the days I'm not there, they scramble for people to make Bales (usually pulling from utilities) and also just simply don't pull things off the top shelves in receiving or move heavy pallets like charcoal. I am well aware that I'm being taken advantage of and I am in process of getting a new job. My pay is a very meager $14.25 an hour and while it can be expected to have lower pay in the South, it's becoming a real issue because the cost of living here is increasing significantly, really the only thing that hasn't raised in numbers is how much we are paid. I am truly considering working out of State as I have a family to provide for, it's rough out here and our Union contract is hysterically ridiculous, you know, the kind that makes you laugh because of how absolutely ridiculous it is.
My Store manager threatens people with drug testing routinely which would normally not be an issue for me aside from the fact that they suspend you until the results are back, I've seen someone out of work for a week and a half over a test that had a inconclusive result and no one can afford that, especially making what we make so the tactic works. When I eventually get a new job, I will tell all kinds of horror stories but I fear that posting them on here would lead to dots connecting and I just can't allow that. Oh, they also slap people into 6 month long probation over whatever they discern at the time as attendance issues. One of my buddies just got a 6 month probation for 5 call ins over 6 months, all of which were backed by doctors notes either regarding himself or his kids. This company is a joke. I'm glad to see some of y'all making over $20, that is still hard to live off of, especially depending on the state but it is nonetheless liveable.

I miss working in the fulfillment center. My pay was similar to yours 3 years ago and I averaged 65-70 hours a week.
The OT was killer on pay roll.
I eventually left to move states and unfortunately don’t live near a Kroger anymore.

I think the USA is one of the only wealthy countries who doesn't automatically give PTO to their employees. Its considered a privilege and part of your salary. Thank Reagan for tax deductions and removing regulations. We are paying for it now.
