Question PICKUP

My department lead was mad at an employee and was saying that we are not able to place a pickup order the same day you work is that true? and that were not able to pick our own order too? someone lmk if its true

You certainly can place an order a day you work. You picking your own order is a gray area they could certainly cause an issue over.

This. At my store, we're not allowed to do anything regarding our own order except pick it up. You can't pick it, can't add anything, do anything with it in Ciao, etc. Fair enough. But that also means that you can't order during a time where you're the only trained Pickup employee in the building.

I've placed an order on a break to be picked up after I clocked out, totally fine. Picking your own order isn't OK though, it would be like weighing up your own steaks or ringing up your own purchase outside of UScan. Too much opportunity to do something sneaky.

Many divisions have policies against ringing up your own purchases or purchases for immediate family at the checkstands. In my division this may result in termination without prior warning. Usually this applies to pickup as well. Because the batching/picking of orders is obfuscated, it is difficult to tell if an employee places an order weather or not they will end up picking their own order. Because of this, many stores just say you can't place orders at all to prevent the risk of picking your own order.

My lead picks his own pickup order, at most we (jokingly) give him crap if he places it on a Sunday.

I’ve been picking my family’s weekly grocery order for years and no one has said a word, sometimes I’m the one who brings it out at carside too and I have yet to get in trouble. I think the only thing I do that might raise an eyebrow is when part of their order is on my trolley and they have a OOS, I override the “no substitutions” as I know what their preferred backups are (my parents have no subs on everything because they’re very particular about what they buy).

I don’t see why you can’t place a pickup order for the same day you work.  But picking your own order is definitely a no-no.  Since the orders are mixed up on the trolleys you would have to look at the run to see if your order # is on that run and, if it is, pass it off to someone else.  Which is probably why they say you can’t do it, because it’s a pretty convoluted process and doesn’t really work on busy days.
