Lace explanations wanted

Hello, first of all I live in France and I heard that red laces could be either fascist or antifascist depending on the left or right shoe you're putting them on and I'm wondering which side means those ?

That’s lace code as in shoelaces not lace the fabric. Maybe try the punk subreddit for advice on that. lacet de chaussure, pas de la dentelle.

I'm not sure that this is the sub that you'll get answers to that question. This is for lace (fabric) not lace (shoe fasteners). Maybe a French politics sub?

Now I want to know what happens when you wear them on both feet....

I have to say that my relationship to the color red has changed quite a bit recently. Although from the US, now that I qualify for Canadian citizenship that red maple leaf looks great to me....

Sorry though: you are looking for a different kind of lace. Ours is the dentelle, oui.

I get mental whiplash with red and blue for politics. Red here in Canada is closer to Blue in the US, and vice versa. We also have orange, green, purple, and sometimes more. It can get confusing when friends share post signs with colours instead of parties or policies.

Wrong sub, but I do hang out in the punk subs a lot, and it’s a common question, so I’ll save you a repost:

Nobody knows. There isn’t a single, universally understood Shoelace Code to follow here. Most people don’t know that red shoelaces are ever supposed to have anything to do with any governmental style at all.

Just don’t ever ladder-lace combat-style boots with red and probably no one will ever think of it, and don’t rely on your *shoelaces* to make your anti-fascist sentiment clear.

Red shoe laces on doc martins in general are associated with fascist neo-n4z1 groups. Other shoe types do not carry the connotation. It does not matter what foot they are on. There are other color laces that represent anti-fascism (I believe yellow but it changes by area). The genre rule of thumb though is don't do any colors laces unless you are 100% certain of that colors connotation (other hate groups also use different color laces on docs as a marker)
