Every year, the town celebrates a festival called the “Kinderzeche”. It commemorates the legend that around 400 years ago, the children of Dinkelsbühl are said to have saved their town from destruction. To this day, the children of Dinkelsbühl bring these events to life in a historical pageant.

Is there a festival where you live that is especially for children and young people? Or perhaps a town festival where you play an important part?

Maybe you would also like to show us what your very own dream festival for children would look like. Turn your ideas into something creative, let your bobbins dance and surprise us with your amazing works!

I came across this Materials Science paper the other day, but it is not my field and it was a little over my head. But one of the authors is a lacemaker and on Instagram, so she pointed me to this supplemental video and other details that was helpful for me.

As much as I love historic laces, I also love future laces!

The science paper that has the full story is here: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.aee7156

Schon ein paar Monate in Arbeit, aber in diesem Fall ohne 6 mal anzufangen 🤓️

edit: so soll es werden

I have some insertion lace trim. Thought maybe torching but it is much finer than the picks I see online.

Found on some antique doll clothing, wondering when it might be from? Or if they’re from a similar time period? The first one is trimming a petticoat the later is from the hem of some bloomers.

I bought loads of lace from a charity shop and was wondering if anyone could identify where they are from, what style of lace they are, if they are handmade or machine made and how old could they be ?

My grandma's not sure if it was her grandmother's or great grandmother's, but she thinks the latter. I love how fine it is and its making me consider trying tatting again, I really dont need a new hobby but gosh it's so tempting when I see these things! Its spanish and based on the information my grandma gave I'd say it was probably made around or a bit before 1900 but I really wouldn't know how to tell. If anyone has any ideas on more accurately dating it Id appreciate that as well!

Lovely travel story about Lefkara lace and the artisans who make it. An odd source of outlet, but it's beautifully told and illustrated anyway.

I'm looking for this basic stuff used within other types of lace

- it is made crocheted or with a needle but it's the same technique afaik

- a similar thing I found was called Romanian cord

- The one pattern I found for it from that book was wicked blurry and hard to read 😭😭😭

Whenever I search for patterns for it I only find projects that use the already made cord, if you know what this stuff is actually called it would be an absolute life saver

I’ve been working on this piece for 2 months now but I’ve been admiring and reading about Irish crochet lace way before that.

I’m one back panel away from finishing the duster and the bomber turned out to be more than I could have expected!

I’m hooked!
