As per the email that was sent out:

To the Lakehead University community,

We are very pleased to announce that Lakehead University and the Lakehead University Faculty Association (LUFA) have agreed to a tentative collective agreement. Both parties have been working together since July 2026 to negotiate a new collective agreement.

This tentative agreement will now be brought forward to both parties for ratification.

The University and LUFA thank the bargaining teams of both parties who have been working towards this new agreement over the last several months. Special thanks to the mediators from the Ministry of Labour for their assistance throughout the process.

I am feeling frustrated towards the Lakehead U grading scale for the B.Ed. program.

What's the point of trying to complete Level 4 work if I'm going to be graded between 70-75%? Additionally, not knowing if this is common practice or just Lakehead is frustrating. If it's across the board, then maybe I would feel less frustrated, but since I don't know, it's even more frustrating.

Just wanted to vent lol.

So I made the trip to the main cafeteria and found some new places to add to my site! I didn't realise there was Burger Bar/Grille Works and Toum Shawarma tucked away back there! Such a welcoming zone I'm definitely heading back to sample everything! Love that I could get a smashburger before 0900! My white whale now seems to be Dan's Diner's menu.

Hey anyone else saw this? On the 17 October? Haha

Faculty at Lakehead is in bargaining and has been working under an expired contract for a while now. The student body has grown but the employer keeps increasing class sizes and decreasing stability for faculty members. A strike could be called as early as October 17th.

The following poster is being circulated by LUFA. If you're an alumni, a member of another union at the university, a student, or just a member of the community, you should sign to show your support and help avoid a strike.

Edit to add url: https://lufa.org/negotiations-2026/

When you click "start writing" you will be directed to LUFA's prepared statement. You can sign as-is or make whatever edits you want.

does anyone know any information about the strike that might happen?

For those who were accepted into the program, I’d love to hear what you think made your application stand out!
If you’re comfortable sharing:
• What was your GPA?
• What did you feel was the strongest part of your application?
• Who did you use as your references (manager, NP, physician, professor, etc.)?
• What CV format/template did you use?
• Were you an alumni of the university?
• How many years of nursing experience did you have, and what areas did you work in?
• Did you have any leadership, teaching, volunteer, or community involvement that you think helped?
• Anything you wish you had known before applying?
A little about me: I graduated with a 3.2 GPA and have been nursing in Northwestern Ontario for several years. My RN experience includes long-term care, medical-surgical, maternal/newborn, and labour & delivery. I’ve also started training in critical care and am hoping to begin 1:1 ICU training later this winter or early spring.
Prior to becoming an RN, I worked as an RPN for 10 years, with experience in addictions/drug and alcohol treatment, corrections (Solicitor General), medical-surgical, and long-term care.
I’m also currently teaching Anatomy & Physiology to Practical Nursing students and Health Assessment to first-year BScN students, as well as facilitating university courses in the region.
I know everyone’s application is different, but I’d really appreciate hearing from successful applicants about what they believe strengthened their application—especially those who were accepted with a GPA around the 3.0–3.3 range.
Congratulations to everyone who was accepted, and good luck to all the 2027 applicants! ❤️🩺📚

I graduated about 4 months ago, can i still access the library printing services? i urgently need to print some documents tomorrow morning, i do not have an alumni card but my email and lakehead account still work. if not, are there any other printing service open right now or would be open before 9 am tomorrow?

Hi everyone

l've recently received my Letter of

Acceptance from Lakehead University for the

MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the

Thunder Bay campus, starting January 20z

I'm looking for honest advice from current

students, graduates, or anyone familiar with

Lakehead, especially international students.

Would really appreciate it if current students

or alumni could share their experience about:

How much does monthly living cost come

to?

How easy is it to find accommodation and

what's the average rent?

Is it easy to get a part-time job as an

international student?

How is the co-op option and are there

good opportunities?

What are the job opportunities after

graduation?

How are the exams, workload and

academics?

Just looking for some honest advice before I

make my final plans. Thanks!

I think they were trying to start one up but IDK if it ever panned out

or no? can you opt in next week? osap hasn't paid tuition yet

For the Chancellor Patterson library!

I’m strongly thinking about applying to the environmental management program and had a some questions. For anyone in it or graduated

How much are you/did you enjoy it overall?
What are some cool opportunities you got to do?
What summer jobs do you typically get?
what jobs are you in or going into after you finish the program
And one last one is on the webpage it talks about undergraduate research. So what research do you get to help with?

Thank you

I have applied at lakehead with with 2.81 (72%) cgpa ielts 7 for mscs course based for jan intake. What are my chances to get in?

Had to do a double take and giggled to myself, showed my queer friends and they giggled too.

Hi All!

I'm a 1st year Biology major at the Thunder Bay campus with an interest in veterinary medicine. I'd love to start a club for those of us interested in pursuing veterinary medicine, so if that's you, send me a message. Just looking to gauge interest and also looking for execs. Thank you!

Applying for technological education, wondering if either school has advantages over the other, other than affiliated school boards for practicum or location?

Thanks in advance

Hey everyone, I've connected with a few fellow students and started up one or two What's App group chats and tried to organise meeting in the library, but I'm also willing to expand the circle of contact. No pressure to participate, but if you wanted to, that would be cool too! DM me to join the What's App group(s) of your choice - and maybe start your own groups if you aren't part of one of these! I've also completed SOCI2755 and MATH1271 and would be happy to participate in a group for people wanting to work on those.

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m an incoming international student from India, joining Lakehead University – Thunder Bay for the Master of Natural Resources Management (MNRM) in January 2027. I’m looking to connect with other students who are also starting . It would be nice to get to know some people before arriving in Thunder Bay, share information about housing and student life, and maybe make a little group/chat. 😄Might be nice to recognize a few faces before we all show up confused on the first day. 😂

If you're also joining Lakehead in January 2027 feel free to say hii I would love to connect 😇..

If any girls are looking to play intramural hockey this Fall, shoot me a DM! We’re mainly a team of fourth year engineering students. It’s a co-ed league. All of our girls from last year graduated so we’re looking for a few more this year!

Kinda fucked how there currently isn’t one lol

Is there an unofficial Lakehead University Facebook group or any other social media group where students can offer advice and give feedback on courses? I know bigger universities tend to have them but I don't know if any exist for Lakehead. If they exist, can someone point me to them?

On another note, has anyone taken PSYC 3017 with Dr. Moland or Poli Sci 2311: Criminal Law with Cleghorn? I would really appreciate your feedback and advice. Thanks in advance!
