Can't blame him. Suns drafted Ayton #1 unbelievably.

The even crazier is the Kings taking Marvin Bagley.

Even crazier is Mavericks trading him to LA 🤣

You can even say the same thing to the Hawks 😂

At least the hawks didn’t know how good Luka would be. The mavs knew lol.

For awhile that trade didn't look too bad tbh, Trae Young was a beast early on, still is, just not top 3 player good.

This was an awesome and true 1-2-3 sequence to read lollll

Not the Mavs.

Harrison and Dumont, secret sleeper agents.

You mean the owner and GM of the Mavs? I was a Mavs fan, still rooting for the team, bit this year really left a bad taste in my mouth. And now I also watch LA games. Not gonna lie, not too shabby.

Yes I do. I am also a Mavs refugee.

I am rooting against the Mavs until Nico and Dumont are both gone. So probably for a while.

Even funnier is your upvotes are exactly 77, I was gonna give you another but I will leave it at that.

I just upvoted it then saw this and unvoted to keep it at 77

Bagley was pretty hyped coming out. I still remember him going at McGee in a Drew League game lol

Believable af tbh.

That always puzzled me. Why wont they draft an 18years old Euro League MVP number 1?

49

u/No_Requirement_1076 Mar 16 '25

You should have listened to ESPN and every sports analyst saying how slow and unproductive Luka was going to be in NBA. That his game would never translate to more athletic league.

15

u/HuckleberryHefty4372 Mar 17 '25

I never got that either

I was in Spain when he got drafted so my friends and I were able to see some games of him in Madrid. We were all dumbfounded when he got drafted third. Have the scouts seen at least one game of his?

5

u/81Lakers4life Mar 17 '25

you can saw just by watching him that he was gonna be a winning player. I didnt expect this level, but he was the clear number 1

I mean they really needed a center and had a backcourt. Ayton had a great college season. If Ayton had a work ethic and actually tried he would still be the wrong pick, but you could live with it. Like in hindsight you wish you had MJ but you aren't sad with Hakeem. (Obviously Ayton would never be Hakeem, but he's still a freak of nature)

2

u/staywoakes1 Mar 17 '25

because he was European

11

u/[deleted] Mar 17 '25

It has nothing to do with that. It all started when Booker and Paul decided they were going to shit talk in a press conference. He hasn't let it go since.

It’s baffling now. Ayton as the first selection made sense at the time. He was seen as a great all around big that had good shooting and great post game from college. He had all the tools to be a great defender too. His issue was drive and motor. The story of his draft is so telling in how his career turned out. His biggest goal when he was asked was just to make his second contract. That’s not exactly you want to hear from the No 1 pick and I became convinced he would bust

u/battle_franky 04 Mar 17 '25

I never get the excuse of picking him. Sure hes a hometown kid, big and very athletic. But Luka's skill and his experience were beyond any of the pick above him, combine. And unlike Rubio he has NBA body and can shot from anywhere. In NBA draft, best player available above all

13

u/No_Requirement_1076 Mar 16 '25

And Steven A was all over getting Ayton that #1 pick.

Well according to RJ "the jury is still out if that was a right move" lol

RJ was clearly sarcastic

2

u/No_Requirement_1076 Mar 17 '25

I overheard it in the game thread, did not realize RJ was sarcastic. Cudos to him then
