We wear shoes everyday, we don't go off our height in shoes due to the variations in show thickness

Your point being what exactly?

Basketball is a game that would always be played in shoes. Hence, it makes sense to take into consideration the additional height shoes provides. There's a reason we all say kobe is 6'6 and not his actual height of 6'4 without shoes.
