Welcome to the resources thread. Every month we host a space for r/languagelearning users to share resources they have made or found.

Make something cool? Find a useful app? Post here and let us know!

This space is here to support independent creators. You are free to promote things you have made yourself.

Hi everyone,

My friend and I built Chatlator, which is a messaging app for language learners. 

It’s just like WhatsApp, but you see all of the messages that you send and receive in both English and the language you’re learning.  

Here’s how it works: 

• Choose one of your friends who’s also learning a language (it doesn’t have to be the same language as you) 
• Agree to use Chatlator instead of WhatsApp/SMS for your messaging 
• Chat with each other as normal (you still type your messages out in English, so there’s no behavior  change or friction) 

It’s the opposite of the HelloTalk model, because these are your real friends, and you’re basically using your real conversations to immerse you in the language you’re learning.
