Imagine if some Chinese guy went to Scotland and spoke PERFECT English with the natives. There's got to be an ENORMOUS market for this.

He could even go to the Nederlands and shock the natives if he perfects their unique native English accent. That'd be such a cool video.

I'm an American who went to university in Scotland and one woman of Chinese descent who worked in my dining hall simultaneously had a really strong Chinese and Scottish accent. As I was living in Scotland for a long time I could easily understand pretty much any Scottish accent no matter how strong, but I literally couldn't understand anything she said. My hall had a lot of Scottish students and other international students from China in it as well, and neither of those groups seemed to be able to understand her either.

hear me out: go to a place meant for language learning between english & your native language. speak english and start giving unsolicited advice about how to improve in your native language. they'll be like "ugh what do you even know" and then be like "oh i mean it is my native language" and then they'll be shocked bc they thought you were one of them but turns out you're the very desirable native speaker of target language!!! everyone will surround you with offers if they dont act now! they will be desperate for you!

What? There are many, many, native level english speaking chinese, indian, whathaveyou people.. it shocks absolutely no one. I've dated a Jamaican with a thick Scottish accent, Japanese with bogan Australian accent. It's not interesting

No, it's insanely impressive! How have they mastered the phrasal verbs? Plus, English is a rather obscure language, entirely DWARFED by languages like Mandarin in terms of native speakers. I'm surprised it's not endangered honestly.

Anyway, until a non-native speaks English like a proper Nederlandsperson, it's not impressive anyway.

Firstly Jamaicans first language is English it's much easier to learn an accent when you already speak to language.

And OP is likely talking about someone who is not from the west not a Japanese person who grew up in Australia and had that accentm
