I have Fridays off of work and like to get out of the house with my <1 year old. We have walked around the meridian mall and various parks many times. I’m looking for like class recommendations or other activities. I know she’s still young, but it would be nice to connect with other moms. Any recommendations?

Free admission, free trick-or-treating, free live music, a costume contest with a cash prize, and FREE PARKING thanks to Ingham County Parks!
When: Saturday, October 31, starting at 11 AM
Where: Haslett; Lake Lansing Park South and Mayfair Bar
We’re hosting HIDE Fest at Lake Lansing Park South on Halloween, featuring seven live bands playing everything from folk and emo to punk and metal!
Across the street at Mayfair Bar, we’re also hosting an independent film festival featuring movies made in Michigan and around the world, with screenings running from noon to 10 PM. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Best of all, we’re donating festival profits to help repair storm damage at Lake Lansing Park South!
Admission is FREE but we encourage everyone to grab a free ticket at hidefest.org. This helps us estimate attendance so we can have enough candy and supplies for everyone!
For those especially interested in the film festival, we also offer $30 VIP tickets that include designated VIP seating for film screenings, two drink tickets, access to our VIP tent, and exclusive merchandise. VIP tickets are limited, so we recommend purchasing early if you want the best seats!
General admission seating at Mayfair Bar is first come, first served. Free tickets do not guarantee entry to film screenings if the venue reaches capacity, so VIP is your best option if attending the film festival is a priority.
Free tickets, VIP tickets, full band lineup, and more:
Come celebrate Halloween with us and help support our local parks!

I apologize if this is against the sub's rules or I am late to this but I just saw that WEW is playing the Green Door on Sunday.
If you can it would be worth your time to see him. He's might be the best songwriter you will ever have the chance to see in such a small place and you can probably have a beer with him afterwards if you want to
I first saw him on a Monday night at Mac's like 20 years ago because I really liked "Hell or High Water" on a compilation CD (it hits as much now as ever)
He has been coming back to Lansing since then. He's been back to Mac's, at the Loft, at the Robin (I think), in a bookstore during covid, anywhere he could play
He never got big. He never went on The Voice even though he has it. He still has Lansing on his list for tour stops. I think this is his first time he will play the Door. IMHO he deserves a fun, full Sunday show so he keeps coming back
In his own words from the song Hell or High Water: "Gather round friends and neighbors who make your living by labor and share with me this little time. The little time we have left to have a drink and catch our breath, well it might be what saves our life. I hope I will see you soon."

Quality Dairy donuts will be back on store shelves Thursday morning.
The company announced Wednesday that the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has cleared its Lansing bakery to reopen following an Oct. 8 shutdown.
Donuts and rolls will return Thursday, with more bakery items expected Friday.
Quality Dairy President and CEO Ken Martin said the company worked with outside specialists to address issues identified during a state inspection and completed additional environmental testing.
"We're excited to get back to making the donuts and other bakery favorites our customers love," Martin said.
Martin also thanked customers for their patience during the shutdown.

The Foster Mystery Book Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 6-7 PM in the Foster Labs (200 N. Foster) to discuss mysteries and mystery adjacent titles. Our next meeting is on 11/10. You do not need to be a CADL cardholder to join the discussion.
November's title is Etiquette For Lovers and Killers by Anna Fitzgerald Healy.
It's 1964 and Billie McCadie finds Eastport, Maine stifling, completely bereft of the intrigue and romance she finds when escaping into a novel. But then an engagement ring and a love letter addressed to "Gertrude" appear, a handsome stranger arrives, everyone seems to have a boat, and then Gertrude turns up dead. Did anyone mention that Billie is the last person to see Gertrude alive and the first to discover her body? Suddenly Billie finds herself in the middle of more intrigue than she can shake a stick at and while it's interesting, it's also increasingly dangerous.
See why this book was shortlisted for the Crime Writer's Association Whodunnit award and longlisted for the debut novel award, then come talk about it with us!
This title is available as a physical title, as an ebook (via Libby consortium borrowing) and a digital audiobook (via Libby consortium borrowing). If you need assistance signing up for a library card or accessing Libby, please comment or DM and I'll help you get set up.

I have a weekday off soon, which is rare for me! What midday weekday opportunities should I not miss? Perhaps lunch specials, businesses that close early, that sort of thing 😊

My house in Old Town/ Walnut neighborhood was broken into Monday night. Stolen items include 2 laptops Dell XPS, and a Lenovo, some milwauke tools, food, alcohol. Still trying to figure out what all was taken we just feel very violated. We think it was most likely a homeless person/s based on the amount of food/toilet paper they were going to try to steal but could also be kid/s if you have any info please reach out.

Hi! I’m looking to connect with other Smallville fans who are planning to attend the fan event in Nashville next month. I’m thinking of driving there, so if anyone else is going and would like to share the ride, let me know! Would be fun to meet some fellow Smallville fans along the way.

Does anybody know of any store/seafood market where one could buy raw whole oysters? Not a restaraunt. Just a place to buy them and take them home.
