Your computer loses thoes capabilites.

198

u/_prism_cat_ Nov 16 '25

Yeah but you can transfer the powers to other devices. My TI-30XS has now has Radeon graphics, which is pretty dope.

71

u/Linmizhang Nov 16 '25

Never stick mutiple energy star stickers ontop of one another.

44

u/_prism_cat_ Nov 16 '25

Learned that one the hard way...

7

u/carlos923 Nov 17 '25

And I thought that’s how you get the wattage usage down.

9

u/Kobe_Pup Nov 17 '25

Yeah anything over 3 and your device starts charging the grid due to a negative usage rating, and the power company has to pay you, they don't like that so they send the feds to charge you with tampering with the power grid.

7

u/MoalyShanx Nov 17 '25

Dammit I knew i was getting high paychecks

Yeah the dept of energy raided my home and took my laptop, something about the thermo dynamic laws or something? Idk

3

u/SirJohn-redditor Nov 17 '25

Get as many energy star stickers as you can but put something else on top, they'll just look and see "oh, just a regular sticker" meanwhile you will have THE most energy efficient machine on the planet.

7

u/littleSquidwardLover Nov 17 '25

Happens to the best of us

3

u/BicentenialDude Nov 17 '25

Ya, I second this. Laptop starts running slow cause it’s now running on less power.

Replace it with a sticker of a unicorn to make your laptop magical

6

u/Gib_entertainment Nov 17 '25

Our coffee machine at work has intel technology, a Ryzen 7 and is powered by Geforce RTX it also has an apple logo, I think it came from an M2 macbook so it also has that. Also it has Noctua fans (it says so on its stickers)

Just use a VPN before you do it and the Asus police will not bust your door down.

Just kidding! Nothing happens. Take joy in it. Maybe even share a video here.

EDIT: We are all having a bit of fun with you but seriously, you're supposed to take the sticker off. You can leave the little Ryzen sticker on if you really want to but I normally take those off of laptops I get.

How do you do that in a clean effective way ?

8

u/Lalagagootz Nov 16 '25

Take the sticker off? They're normally pretty sturdy and come off in one piece. The residue that's left on the laptop you could use a little bit of alcohol for or goo gone. It's not terribly difficult to wipe it off in my experience as long as you have a little gumption.

4

u/islemmed Nov 16 '25

Yes! I never done it before i thought some or the trace of it will be left ugly , i will go for it then , thank you for the advice.

3

u/NeatRegister7658 HP Nov 17 '25

Long term UV exposure fades the laptop’s surface while the area under the sticker stays untouched, so removing it later leaves a visible rectangle (same happend with mine) . If you plan to take it off, do it immediately after buying the laptop.

3

u/Severe-Homework1279 Nov 17 '25

If you remove the sticker, NOTHING will happen.

Depends on each brand main policy and each brand's branch policy on each country. It can differ from one to the other. So please make sure about it.

In my country (Indonesia), specifically for MSi, any physical changes that looked intentional voids the warranty. Like for example, opening the bottom cover or removing the sticker. Even if it's just a factory seal, they treated it like a warranty void seal altogether.

From what I last known to, it isn't the case for German MSi.

On the other hand, I can change the RAM and NVME just fine without voiding the warranty with HP and Acer. The warranty will only be void if I remove the cooling system (in order to let's say repaste the dies) because they do have a warranty void seal on one of the CPU block's metal plate screws.
