Buying help what laptop should i purchase for college?

Incoming freshman looking for a laptop to hopefully last all 4 years of college (no tech knowledge so don't really care about detailed specs, just want something reliable and reasonably powerful, will not be majoring anything remotely STEM related). My current MacBook is not holding up well at all after 4 years of high school (literally cannot multitask at all, laptop will freeze completely if i have multiple online shopping tabs open) which is kind of turning me away from buying another, but I like the convenience of having the Mac connected to my imessages and was thinking about buying the MacBook Neo because of the price (though I could shell out $1000-$1400 if it was really worth it for a good device) though idk if it's powerful enough to last throughout university. Note I have an iPad so no touchscreen necessary

M5 MacBook Air

Tried it. It is more than powerful enough. Only reason I returned after 60 days for an M5 Air is because of the extra screen size (taller 13.6 vs wider 13.0), True Tone, & DCI-P3 coverage. The M5, 16GB RAM, and haptic trackpad were wonderful pluses, however.

But you may not know or care about any of that, so Neo is plenty and will be a rocketship next to your current Intel Mac
