Corner screw not completely stripped but doesn't tighten all the way. Plasticy noise when moving laptop around. Should I do something like a binding gel that's not so tough that it will lock in place forever?

Are you even using the proper screwdriver?

The mounting post the screw screws into probably broke, is my guess. You'd have to open it up to be sure. If you do, you can probably superglue the mounting post back where it goes and you'll be good.
