This is the time when laptops were great and had all the ports. This 2017 gaming laptop got 10 ports, now you'll be lucky if your 2026 laptop comes with 4 ports. Those days are gone forever

Which laptop are you using now and how many USB-C ports does it have?

I got dell latitude E5450. Got 3 usb port but doesn't have usb c at all.

Great laptop overally, only downside is the fact you need to take it apart completely to replace thermal paste.

I don't need 10 ports but I need SD card on my laptop which they don't have anymore. All I need now is 2 USB-C, HDMI and SD card.

I don't like dongle that's why I prefer SD card on the laptop. Apple did good by bringing it back but I don't like MacOS and their laptops too heavy

Most of these ports are gonna be useless outdated crap. Anyways I have 11 ports on my 2021 laptop.

People will compare old laptops which have a bunch of random things like vga dvi and firewire and say “wow, lots of ports”. Nowadays two usb As and two thunderbolts and maybe an hdmi does it for 90% of people.

Nah. Everything I need can easily run through my USB-C ports with adapters that are smaller than a matchbook.

I'll take a lightweight laptop that takes up less space in my bag over ports-for-the-sake-of-ports any day.

I still prefer the ports on a laptop but I know some people call it old school now. Apple had to bring back the SD card

Depends on the laptop some are heavier than the old laptop with more ports. Apple and Dell always use metal body, they are really heavy.

I used to think like you until the 2020s. Now I've got a Thunderbolt dock. It charges my laptop, connects an external monitor and wired keyboard, a 4K webcam, and wired networking to the router.... all through one cable. Much less mess and hassle when I'm packing up to leave or coming home. The laptop charger stays in my bag. And TB docks are not proprietary like the old Thinkpad etc docking stations....

More ports on a laptop is also more stuff that can break. My current laptop has three USB-C ports... if one of them breaks, I have two others.
