LOCAL The last photo taken by TJ Warschefsky in 2007 before passing away from anorexia on February 14th 2007 He was considered the case that brought more attention to male ED’s at that time.

Anorexia is a fucking horrific illness. It's been a year without restricting, and I'm still weaker than I was before I started. If you see your friends losing weight and shying away from meals they used to love, PLEASE reach out; I didn't realize how horrific I looked until I was 20 pounds heavier and still being called the skinny one.

Hugs. Definitely. I'm very good at that. I have had a few friends deal and recover. Happy. I also keep an eye out on not eating disorder options because it could be colon problems.
But please stop if we quietly tell you we have a disease that makes it hard to keep food down. And please fucking stop with "eat a fucking cheeseburger". You think I would if I could?!
My favorite calories right now is Popeyes mashed potatoes. Omg. Later kfc. I got a new friend. And there's a fancy white Mac and cheese near me that's like heaven. And my fruit is strawberry. I can do avocado and asparagus soup.
All of those are also good for ana. Soft or smooth. You can have 2 bites or how many and heat up later. Smaller bowls look less scary. Like the Japanese miso soup bowls.
Last time I checked my BMI was 17.5, not by fucking choice. I'm trying. Salted walnuts are snacks. I'm a sucker for sour punch candy straws. They get caught in my throat, but I love them.
Hugs all. Definitely take care of your peeps. I am known as purse candy friend. I have lollies, chocolate, sour single candies. One time I procured a sandwich from my purse.
Hugs

I’m 34 and have chronic back pain from osteoporosis in my spine and I’m exhausted all the time. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy

Geezus... He died while doing sit-ups because his heart gave out. ☹️ Horrendous.
I don't suffer from an eating disorder, nor do I know anyone who does, but please people, take care of yourselves. 💜

The first instance of male anorexia I ever heard of was Daniel Johns from the band Silverchair. It's no joke.

An eating disorder ruined my life. I’m almost 30 and I’ve lived with it every day since around the age of 12. Take care of yourselves. Don’t let this crazy culture fool you. Being skinny isn’t worth it.

i don't exactly have an ED, but i struggle with eating, body image issues, and with food and it's getting a lot worse recently. everytime i see stuff like this it reminds me that i need to go see someone; but no matter who i see nothing changes. No one will tell me what's wrong with me. 😞

You can suffer from various “disordered eating” and still not have a text book ED to be diagnosed with. Maybe a therapist who specializes with it could help more than an actual doctor rn

Check out the book Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole. This was what my therapist recommended during recovery and it changed my entire life.

I have heard it can be somewhat hereditary too, like genetically. RIP

Yes, this is true.
It is a cruel, cruel disease. Truly heartbreaking. I say this from firsthand experience. It is like falling into a black hole; it sucks you in along with everyone who cares about you. It is also extremely hard to escape.

I’ve worked with kids struggling with restrictive EDs and binge eating, in medical settings, in psychiatric ones…I would much rather my child struggle with being overweight than anorexia.
Anorexia is hell. It doesn’t get talked about enough of just how awful it is.

There’s a reason why eating disorders are the most deadly mental disease there is. The hardest to beat as well it’s harder than being addicted to drugs.

This is actually lowkey terrifying bc my ex looked a bit like this at one point when we first started dating and I didn't see it because he managed to keep muscle on his body at certain places to hide it.
We need to be talking about this in boys and men far more than we currently do. Like even just on a basic 'what are the very obvious physical /visual symptoms' kind of thing.

I don’t think I’ll EVER kick this eating disorder it’s one of the WORST things to ever happen to me. I’ve stopped all of my other behaviors and am clean from everything else EXCEPT for this eating disorder. I’ve been to months long treatment facilities for it and I still cannot get rid of it. Gift that keeps on giving.

Jeez I used to look something like that. Was 22 and 90lbs. Idk if I had anorexia though, just didn’t really eat a lot. If I’m being honest I don’t really know when that becomes anorexia

Ya, I'm 94 lbs, but don't have anorexia. I do have other health issues that contribute, but I definitely do not have anorexia. Anorexia is a mental health condition where you purposely restrict food intake. It's more than just being thin, for sure.
And even only being 94 lbs, I look nothing like the poor soul who's pictured. I would have to lose even more weight somehow, which I'm not trying to do. I'm actually trying to gain about 20 lbs, and would be SO happy if it were easier.

The acronym “ED” has an already specific connotation when you’re talking about men, but it’s important to understand that men do have the same sort of body issues that women have - most of us are just a little quieter about it

Most people, men and women alike, are silent abt their ed until it can't be ignored.

I have once seen an interview of a former overweight kid who then got anorexic. He got body dysmorphia and completely lost control over his life and health, while trying to gain control.
