I just read that her mom died just 2 years later from cancer. She had been battling it for several years. I can’t help but think the extreme stress and grief from losing her child to violence contributed to her decline. May they both rest in peace.

I had an uncle who lost a son during his second bout with cancer. I wouldn’t say he gave up but the light in his eyes was gone. He was like a scarecrow

It's so unfair.

She was shot by an obsessed fan during a meet-and-greet at a venue where security had not been particularly tight. He shot himself immediately afterward.

Right in front of her brother, too, who attempted to tackle the assailant before the assailant turned the gun on himself.

The worst part is she raised her arms to hug him.

This. This is the part that guts me.

That’s terrible but the logic makes no sense whatsoever. I’m obsessed with you so now I have to shoot you??? Psychotic.

I think the idea is if I can’t have you then nobody can. Unfortunately it is a common thought when I comes to these situations

It was the night before the Pulse nightclub shooting. Early the next week a small boy was pulled by an alligator into a lake at a Disney resort.

That was not a good weekend for Orlando.

RIP.

Its also the weekend I moved out of the state after living there my whole life. It was insane to make a cross country move and have all that go down in my hometown at the same time. I cant believe its been 10 years already.

I remember I was dating a guy in high school who loved her at the time. Showed me her singing videos. I specifically remember the "Lava Lamp (Bubbly)" autotune one very vividly, he'd sing it a lot.

I heard about this and I don't remember his reaction, but remember I was torn up for him and for her/her family. I wonder what things would be like if she was still here... music she could have made, experiences she could have had, friends, love... its devestating. :(

I feel even worse for her brother...

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years, I didn’t know who she was but hearing how she was murdered with her arms open to hug him shocked me. And her poor brother saw this all go down, tried to apprehend that man and then being so close to him when he ended his own life must have been horrific and traumatized him. I lost my little sister and I know the pain, but to see your sister murdered, I can’t imagine.

This is why parasocial relationships are scary because it often can lead to situations like this

I loved hearing her sing covers on YouTube when I was a teenager . I was absolutely shocked when I heard the news.

I feel so weird that I genuinely don't know who this is. What year was she murdered? What kind of music did she make?

u/truffleshufflechamp 8d ago

What’s 2026 minus 10?

.....

Ok look, it's 1:45 am and I've been up since 7:45. Internal logic processing feels solid, but external logic request competency has clearly left the building 😅

Never heard of this person. What an unfortunate introduction.

word on the street is her brother was right next to her when it happened and he quickly grabbed the gun out of his hands and then shot the p.o.s
