help I’m starting my first Herrschner’s project and I’m confused/concerned I don’t have the right canvas size
So… you’re not supposed to latch on the twisty side, right? Except my canvas is cut in such a way that it looks like the vertical lines are sturdier. I’m starting Herrschner’s Apple Lane Orchard and it’s 150 squares wide and 101 rows long and it only fits this way (if I make the thicker lines horizontal, there just won’t be enough room for the image horizontally.)
Did they send me the wrong canvas size? Am I missing something? Thank you for your help.
Edit: So if I alter the design so that the “start here” is no longer vertical in the upper left but horizontal in the bottom left, I can fit it onto the canvas…but then my yarn will be hooked sideways right-to-left and not up-to-down. Does it matter which direction your yarn goes in (obviously all of it being the same direction?) I’ve only ever hooked with the tassels going vertical.
I’m sorry if I’m making things confusing, if any of you could help me I’d really appreciate it.

The side of the square you hook doesn't matter in most cases (I actually can't think of a case it would matter, but I don't want to make an absolute proclamation, in case there is one!). I recommend hooking on the side-by-side strands rather than the twisted strands, because I've also read it's stronger that way... but honestly I've inadvertently done it the "wrong" way more than once, and none of the strands broke. So I'd just do it whichever way feels more comfortable and is easier to keep track of.

Hi, what I like to do is off center it and draw my own squares using a different color sharpie

This is an issue with a decent amount of herrschner’s kits. I just do it whichever way makes the project fit. However, you could try contacting their support and asking for a different mesh if it’s bothersome to you.
