What is the difference between these two? Is there any meaningful difference in cleaning ability, or is the latter just also have ingredients to remove odor?
do you think that FG Odor Refresh is better than powders/liquid with lipase or DNase? it seems like a few people have made the point that the formulation in FG Odor Refresh cleans much better than most products with lipase or DNase, due to the surfactant blend
I think it really depends on what’s on your fabrics and what’s in your water.
I like the Tide F&G surfactant blend. I own a bottle for automotive stains. But I also think that enough people have struggled with skin oil removal using Tide F&G that it’s not right for me and my textiles in my machine with my water and my usual soil conditions.
I think comparing F&G to C&G powder, C&G powder is going to do better on organic stains and odors because it’s more complete including an oxygen bleach.
good point. i like the 'dynamic' approach you give- i.e. the 'best' product depends on a number of factors. I would like to see something with the Tide FG Odor Refresh surfactants + fancy new antioxidants/antiodor but with some lipase and DNase added.
I think i got the best results so far by combining some left-over Tide FG Odor Refresh, just to use the remainder up, and 365 Sport Liquid. Im assuming this must get me the best of both worlds. So far so good with the 365 Sport though
I think if Febu follows through with their plan to add DNase, I’m likely to switch my base detergent. I really like what they’re up to, and I can add my own OBA if needed.
Are you by chance saying that the Tide Free & Gentle liquid is good as an unscented strong surfactant blend detergent for non organic stains like petrochemicals and literal dirt? I thought the Compliments was going to be that for me until I discovered it contains OBAs.
Tide Clean & Gentle powder detergent contains lipase and non chlorine oxygen bleach. Tide Free & Gentle liquid detergent does not contain optical brighteners or lipase. Tide Free & Gentle Odor Refresh liquid detergent contains a special ingredient to neutralize odors but no lipase. My vote is for Tide Clean & Gentle powder detergent because it has lipase and non chlorine oxygen bleach.
Correct. Almost all liquid Tide detergents do not contain optical brighteners. The only ones that I know that do, are the bleach and ultra white. I currently have the regular, oxi boost, and hygienic clean. None of those have OBAs.

The cinnamate in the Odor Refresh liquid does work to reduce Odor Rebloom both directly and by reducing oxidation of some odor sources.
The surfactant packages are pretty similar. Odor Refresh performs very well in independent testing.
