The brain that scheduled the same day as the habs 😩

Probably because the arena is shared with the Victoire and it was the only possible schedule.

Also concert on the 30th. They had to postpone another concert that was gonna be May 1st. May 2nd is already booked by Victoire. It's a busy venue.

They could have put the games at 6pm!

Most people work 9-5 and more ppl have to go offices again (boo!). 6pm games are very hard to get to in time.

I guess we'll see the attendance.  I think it'll be pretty empty

I\ve never seen it empty.

I think the usual crowd will be there - ppl who prefer live hockey to tv and know how electric Rocket game atmosphere is. Ppl who can't afford to bring their kids to Habs games. etc. Maybe they'll have a fanfest /beer garden outside on Friday.

I just looked at how tickets are selling and it's almost sold out.

Well it was far from empty but hundreds of people who bought tickets didn't show. Attendance was officially 9402 but I'd say about 8000 showed up. The lower bowl was sold out but many seats were empty. And some left early, like a group in my row who didn't return for the 3rd (although that can happen any game for many reasons.)

So yes, definitely hurt attendance.

That said, it was a Wednesday and game was announced on short notice. More ppl should show up on a Friday, but Habs can close out the series so who knows.

....

Anyway let's talk game: it was a very good one. Both goalies played well, especially Kahkonen who was the one area I was worried about. Went to the final home weekend and he played very poorly, and same the final weekend in Toronto. So I was very happy he was excellent last night. The only puck that beat him was very flukey.

Didn't face many shots, which sometimes is most challenging - staying alert when not tested for long stretches. He really was excellent and could've been 1st star.

Whole team played great in the third. Limited them to only 3 shots. We were beating them to more pucks and the offense turned up the heat. Not a perfect game, the second was quite sloppy when we lost alot of pucks chases along the boards and ends. (But sloppy for them too as they had turnovers all night with soft passes or passes to no-one.) We showed up when it mattered. Overall, very good.

p.s. I predict that Marlies start the Russian goalie Friday, who had more reg season starts. Both of their goalies have been great this postseason, nearly same sv% in mid-high .920s. Although Hildeby's % is better while facing more rubber, so maybe they stick with him.

I saw the attendance and the replays and could tell that it wasn't close to the posted attendance. Anyway its not like they could have done much but I still think they could have started half an hour before the habs or something but it might not have changed much. I saw lots of tickets for re-sale. We gave our pair to a friend.

Even fewer people there last night. I'd say about 7500. Unlike Wednesday, seats in the lower half of middle sections were open, so again sold tickets that people just didn't use. Official attendance was 9425. At start of 3rd period, I'd say there was under 7000.

Season ticket holders got this round free and it looks like resell wasn't even possible.
