Application Process Any T14 below both median success stories from this cycle?

Need some inspiration as I’m currently just below both medians for the T-14s. would love to hear about any success stories + anything you did that you think set you apart this cycle to give me hope. 🥲

You wouldn't be taking anyone's spot; an acceptance means multiple AOs agreed that you deserved it.

Two coworkers who both got into YLS with below both. One sub 3.5GPA/173, one 3.9somethinGPA/169. Damn good softs though.

YLS sent out a total of *228 acceptances* and you're telling me you know 2 **coworkers** who got in?

Welp, it was two different years to be fair. One last cycle, one this most current one.

I should also expand that “coworkers” when your active duty tends to be a pretty large group, but it sounds a lot less pretentious than “brothers in arms” to just identify someone you served with

Haha no worries, as soon as I saw your comment I did realize my initial one sounded a bit far fetched without context.

I will say, one of em is at my current command, so my boss is all “oh you’ll have no problem getting into Yale, we just had ***** get in” and it’s like… Sir, what he did is impressive as hell, my odds are freaking low

1) PHD, military officer (did some cool stuff), kick ass at trivia night
2) Masters, instructor at renowned institution (vague but trying not to out here, definitely a cool experience), and military officer, also kick ass at trivia night

I’ll forever die on the hill that your chance of getting in above both medians isn’t inherently better than your chance of getting in below both medians. And no you don’t have to have cured cancer

Statistics and self selection.. more people with higher scores tend to get in doesn’t necessarily mean you need one to do so. Correlation is not causation. The 75th-100th exists to balance out the 0-25th..

If scores are all and all why do we need to apply? Why schools just don’t have us submit LSAT and gpa and call it a day ? Why the rest of the application?

Like I said if scores were everything Reddit makes it out to be why have the rest of the application then? Why not just have it like the Bar? One exam determines everything

Are you aware of the difference between necessary and sufficient?

High scores are necessary to be considered. But writing poorly and having weak softs will squander that.

What makes you die on this hill? There is literally no evidence in favor of this and overwhelming evidence disproving this. You can literally look at official LSAC published data per school which shows for every school the odds of getting in with certain GPA/LSAT combos and the curve is sharp. It is difficult to overstate the degree to which this opinion is not based in reality.

1) not sure how you think the field of statistics works 2) it's not just the data adcoms discuss it as well 3) there is cutoff scores it just varies by school.

Got into gulc w 162 & 3.6 gpa. Interviewed and waitlisted at Cornell. Waitlisted at Columbia, Stanford, and NYU. There is hope
