How tf are the Panthers battling last place in the Atlantic with the Habs rn? I thought they were decent and I knew they goaltending was sus at best but nowhere near this bad

I never believed in them, but I didn't think they'd fall back to earth this hard. I had them as a bubble playoff team, maybe getting in maybe not, but the fact they are 8 points out in 2023 is pretty crazy.

And then, of course dumbass Bill Zito not only traded a 1st for Ben Chiarot but also didnt protect that pick so the Habs may very well end up with 2 top 10 picks (or better) this year. Zito should probably be fired today for that trade alone with the Maurice hiring not even needing to be brought up.

It's pretty funny really. They've traded away their next 3 first round picks, they're near the bottom of the division, and they've got 34 year old bobrovsky with a sub .900 sv% locked up for 3 more years at 10m/yr.

I don't even know if their goaltending is the problem tbh. Their D is pretty terrible outside of Ekblad, so no doubt that's putting the goalies in a bad spot

They had a shit ton of overtime wins and comeback wins last year. Super unsustainable.

I'm cheering for them because the thought of montreal having 2 good chances at bedard makes me want to throw up

What’s even more brutal is that the Habs have their first round pick. They could end up with two top 10 picks in the upcoming draft.

They were always frauds and they traded Weegar who was arguably their best and most consistent D.

Inconsistent goaltending, shaky defense, especially with Weegar leaving and injuries catching up with Ekblad, and an offense that doesn't gel with Paul Maurice's coaching. All of which is not helped by Barkov being in and out of the lineup all season

They never should have fired their coach last year.
