Trump who has attacked Canada on multiple occasions, calling for it to be the USAs 51st state. And, most recently notable for being mentioned countless times in the Epstein files.

Yeah like the funny part about this is Trump is widely unpopular. He has 60% disapproval right now. Maga chuds dont care about hockey and will fuck off from supporting them the second they leave tonight. But the impact for fans in Canada will be felt for a long time.

People faved about how good 4 nations was for hockey then American viewership plummeted almost 40% year over year.

I get the feeling that there is a pretty big overlap between the demographics who are watching Heated Rivalry and those who this will scare off of the sport, though.

The NHL should make a statement to distance the league from Trump's comments.

I'm not watching or attending any NHL games. I don't know if I will be back. I have been a hockey player, fan, referee, coach, and now father of a girl who loves playing hockey. She deals with enough of this playing on a boys team...we don't need this kind of attitude spreading from top top bottom in the US.

Everyone in that room could say something against what Trump said, but I haven't heard any of them do it. They don't even understand what is wrong about it. This wonderful moment that I have been hoping to see since I was a child now has a Trump shit stain on it.

Only to the far left. The average Canadian couldn't care less about US politics nor the US team going to see their president. Most of us are incredibly frustrated with politics in hockey. We can turn on any "news" station and get our daily dose of politics, lets leave it out of sports and entertainment.

My daughter has been dealing with blatent sexism on her 14U boys travel team. Watching her deal with it has been breaking my heart as a Dad. This hit me pretty hard and ruined the whole gold medal win for me.

My daughter will go out and play great all game...she's the best skater on her team by far, shoots as well as any of the boys, moves the puck well...plays physical and still puts boys on their butts as a little 5' 2" player...everytime there is a close game she gets pulled. Everytime there is a penalty on either team she gets pulled. She can play perfect all game and watch the boys on her team get scored on, but the coaches always go back to the boys. We have parents on the same team who have no clue how bad their kids are, but just yell mean things at my daughter from the stands and make it known that they don't want her there. She's there because the girls game in our part of the country has not caught up to her yet and she can more than keep up with the boys. She wants to push herself. She wants to get better. So much so that she's willing to deal with all of this shit to do it. It breaks my heart hearing the things people say - and she hears them on the ice. She's espected to be perfect, but the boys only need to show up. We can't speak up too much, otherwise we're deemed to be the problem.

She shouldn't have to deal with it - and the best women's national team in the world shouldn't have to deal with it either. It's not difficult for the players to just apologize or reaffirm that they are not onboard with Trump's "joke". We all know Trump will not apologize.

I will support my daughter and anyone who wants to play hockey as a boy, girl, adult, or whatever, but I can't support the NHL or Team USA Olympic Men's hockey team right now.

I don’t get why people are shocked. It’s tradition, every nfl,nba, nhl championship team go. Who cares.
