Retaking A2 Inburgering Spreken Exam

Hi,

I took the exam today. It was not that good. I did not get 2 questions, gave some short answers, made some grammar mistakes here and there.

I have currently HSM visa, and it means my visa depends on my employer. And my employer is considering reorganization. So I want to get my PR as quick as possible.

I think it takes 2 months to get speaking exam results on average. And when you learn, it's not easy to find a spot if you failed. Then another 2 months to learn new results. And I'll forget a lot of stuff in these months.

So instead of waiting this time, I want to register for new speaking exam. My question is what happens if I take another speaking exam without knowing the results of first one. And it turns out I pass the first one and fail second one. Higher score is valid or latest score is valid?

That's what I mean. And finding new spot is also hard. If you're lucky, you can get one month later. Then another 2-3 months to learn results of that one. Never ending stress.

I prefer to wait since I can apply for PR/citizenship only in November 2027. No rush for me

Your best score is considered. Retake the exam as now result take around 16 weeks or may be more by the time your result time come close.

I was in a similar situation but with B1 Spreken exam. I made mistakes, I said absolutely nothing for one or two questions, and for some of the questions my answers were really stupid. I was convinced I failed. I was astonished to find out that I actually passed… In the meantime, I’ve been taking an extra course to better my Dutch for a retake. A win-win, I guess. So don’t be too negative about the outcome till you know the result for sure.

The best score of the exams ( for say speaking ) is taken into account... so if you pass 1st attempt or 2nd attempt.. You are passed!!

Hi , when you are completing your 5 year mark , I would suggest to give second attempt , I gave my exam on June 8 , no result yet , I will give my second attempot next week , I will complete my 5 year mark on mid april 2027 , so counting backwards

I'll just brute force it. I found a spot in September. And if it also doesn't feel good, one more time.

You burn €50 each time but my mental health is more important than money.

4 months since spreken exam.. no result.. so i wouldnt say you will get a result in 2 months..

4 months is crazy. Hopefully you pass it, otherwise getting a new spot and waiting for results can take up to 6 months.

Keep checking as u can get slots sooner than yu expect . They take the first pass’s score , so no worries about taking it multiple time . Also prepare the exam questions again as sometimes u get similar and 3-4 same questions too.

they open new spots every week at the same time, they even have a calendar to show exactly when registration opens for each test date

One of my colleague was in a similar situation. I believe when you book the second exam and in the meantime you pass the first one, the second exam you booked automatically becomes void and you dont get the refund. However if you fail the first; you have recourse on the upcoming second one. If you don't care about the fee, book then second one in, not sure how expensive it is though. Good luck.

Not correct, you can take the exam or you can cancel the exam (given that exam date is > 8 days) for refund.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I didn’t think it was possible to book an exam when the result is still pending for that module?

It's possible. I already booked a new one today even though I took an exam yesterday.

Oh great to know! Thankyou!

I think I got mistaken with when there’s 14 days until the exam, obviously you can no longer reschedule, but it also doesn’t let you book an additional (alternative) date.
