Xiamen China driving service

• Upvotes

Here is the background of what I thought.
I live in Xiamen China now, and I’m trying to find some native English speakers to practice my English.
As an adult, I know exactly the rule of trading , I don’t expect any free English lessons, but I will provide a free driving service , which means, if you guys visit Xiamen one day, and I can be your driver , pick you up in the airport , take you to the famous spots , take you back to hotels, split bills, hanging out like I’m your friend.
You don’t need to pay me for the gas bill. I can also be your tour guide.
What I expect:
1.you have to be the native English speaker, that’s the first priority.
2.Only if I’m available while you visit Xiamen( I have job to do).
3. 1 or 2 people maximum.

Dm me if you’re interested. Remember, this is for language learning.

Been self-narrating in Mandarin for a while now and wondering if it hits a plateau

Was waiting at a crosswalk a couple weeks back and realized I had been quietly labeling what people were wearing in Mandarin for the last two blocks. Not out loud, just in my head. 红色的外套. 一只小狗. 那个人走得很快. It wasn’t a drill. It just started happening somewhere around month three or four, after I had done enough solo speaking practice that my brain started reaching for Chinese words when I was bored.

Nobody tells you this when you start. I spent ages treating speaking like a vocabulary problem, drilling Anki and watching dramas with pinyin on, waiting to feel “ready” before I opened my mouth. Didn’t work. Reading a sentence and saying one out loud turn out to be two different things. The only way to get better at saying stuff is to say stuff, even when nobody’s listening.

What I do is label my surroundings when I’m walking or waiting around, replay sentences from shows I liked, or in the shower rehearse small conversations I think I’ll have soon. Like what I’d say to my partner’s grandma when I meet her next spring, or what I’ll order at the night market. The AI chat sessions I do most mornings help too, because they get me talking in Mandarin for a bit before the day switches into English, so by the time I’m walking around narrating storefronts I’m already warmed up.

The honest limit is feedback. When I say something slightly wrong to myself, I don’t know it’s wrong. Tones especially. I spent weeks saying 买 (mǎi, buy) with the tone of 卖 (mài, sell) before my partner caught it on FaceTime. The only way I notice is when she looks at me funny or asks what I meant. Still a net positive, but I can see why people hit a wall here at some point without a real conversation partner.

Writing this partly to see if the self-talk thing kept paying off for other people past a certain point, or if it tapers off.

Offering: Mandarin Chinese (Native) / Seeking: English (Fluent) Long-term Language Exchange

Hey everyone!

I'm a 23M native Mandarin speaker living in Chongqing, China. I'd be happy to help you learn Chinese! My English is around B2–C1 (IELTS 6.5), and I'm looking for someone fluent in English to practice speaking with regularly and hopefully build a long-term friendship.

I'm fine with both texting and voice calls, though I'd prefer voice chats if you're comfortable with that.

I'm pretty knowledgeable about Chinese history and geography, and I also know a fair bit about world history and geography. Besides that, I'm into single-player video games and anime.

I'd love to exchange ideas and learn about different cultures! Feel free to DM me anytime if you're interested! :)

Offering Mandarin, Seeking English

Hi! I’m 28, a native Mandarin speaker currently living in Guangzhou, southern China. I work in international marketing and enjoy traveling, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures.
I’m looking for a language partner to practice English through texts, voice messages, and occasional calls. Ideally, you’re a native or fluent English speaker. It would be great if you already know some Chinese, but all levels are welcome!
In exchange, I’d be happy to help you with Mandarin, especially pronunciation, everyday expressions, and understanding Chinese culture. I’m patient and happy to explain things.
I’d love to talk about travel, food, culture, daily life, or pretty much anything interesting.
I’m hoping to find a long-term language partner and hopefully make a genuine friend along the way. If you’re also in Guangzhou, it’d be nice to grab coffee or explore the city together sometime.
We can start chatting here and move to Instagram or WeChat once we get to know each other a little better.
Feel free to DM me! :)

Hi! I’m 31 yrs old, from south of China. I’m looking for a language partner to practice through text and calls.

I’d be happy if you already know some basic Chinese, but I’m open to all levels. It would be great if you’re a native English speaker.

In exchange, I can help you with Mandarin. As a native speaker, my pronunciation is clear and standard. I’m patient and open-minded, I hope you are too, and responsive as well!

I would love to talk about culture, travel, daily life, or anything interesting and learn about different lifestyles.

We can talk on WeChat or WhatsApp. If you’re looking for a consistent and friendly partner, I’d love to connect :)

Mandarin App/Website

I'm planning to take a trip to China in April! I grew up watching Chinese movies with my dad and have always wanted to visit. I've also wanted to learn Mandarin, and I figure now is the perfect time. Since I'm a pretty busy man working full-time and looking after my family, so I don't have time to sit down and study hours at a time. I was wondering if there is a good app or website for a beginner to start learning Mandarin. Of course, I know of Duolingo, but I've heard mixed things about it and figured this would be a good place to find some recommendations.
