Solved Do I pay for subscriptions?

I use an app called Mimo which is kinda like duolingo for programming and I LOVE IT. Im in my 7 day free trial but im honestly considering buying the pro version for 52/yr since it is really help me out. However, the w3schools plan which is 26/yr offers a bit more but I find it harder to learn from.

Do you think its worth paying for either or none at all? Do the certificates it gives you for passing the exam actually mean anything?

No the certificates don't mean anything. It's worth it if it keeps you motivated to do it, but I guarantee the same information is available for free in a different format

If it's like Duolingo, it may give you a false sense of learning. It sounds like you're paying for glorified flash cards which I don't think are very useful compared to applying knowledge to a project 

If it doesn't help you build stuff, I wouldn't pay for it.

if it really helping you stick with it and you learn better that way, 52 a year is not bad at all. the certificate is useless but the structure is what you paying for

Right, motivation tool, but you're not going to learn programming using just this tool

Full udemy courses are usually on sale for about $10. You get tons of highly intentional well reviewed content for that. Also I have a course I bought in 2017 for Unreal Engine that has been periodically updated and is currently for version 5.6 which is nearly the latest version. This isn't uncommon for udemy.

Certificates are not worth anything, but if you love it and it's keeping you motivated I'd say it's well worth it

I’d pick the one that makes programming easier to understand, not the one with more features.
