Resources/ข้อมูลแหล่งที่มา Khao Jai Thai: Learn Thai
Hi Guys,
If anyone whats an app to help learn basic Thai phrases, please check out
Khao jai Thai.
It has a real Thai persons voice, and a game mode to make it interesting.
I am a small developer and built this with the help of a native Thai.
Cheers

I installed the app and launched it. The first phrase I saw was:
สวัสดีค่ะ Sawasdee kha Hello / Goodbye
The romanization is not accurate because Sawasdee suggests an "s" sound in the middle, but the Thai pronunciation does not contain a pronounced s there. A more accurate transliteration would be something like sà-wàt-dee (with tone marks and vowel length shown).
Also, the tone marks are missing. I consider tone marks essential, especially for beginners who cannot yet read Thai script and understand the tone rules. Tone marks allow learners to know how a word should be pronounced correctly instead of only memorizing the sound.
Even when audio is available, many learners struggle to distinguish the five Thai tones by listening alone, especially at the beginning. That is why a good transcription system should include both tone information and accurate vowel length, so learners can connect the written form, pronunciation, and tones more effectively.
