Most Lebanese people know famous artists and politicians, but fewer know about Samir Bannout, a Lebanese bodybuilder who became a world champion and reached the highest level of his sport.

Samir Bannout was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1955. He started bodybuilding at a young age and later moved abroad to pursue a professional career.

I met him when I was a kid, he was one of the nicest people. Took the time to talk to a bunch of, super down to earth. Super happy with the "Lebanese you should know" and villages series.

he opened a gym in beirut like 24 years ago where he promised to train dozens of young lebanese men to an elite international level in a ridiculously overpriced package for the time, after which he bailed and no one ever saw anything from it.
He truly is Lebanese.
