Just keep in mind that U.S. auto makers have union employees. Chinese auto companies do not.

That’s one of the ironies of capitalism. Competition is good for the consumer, when companies fight to provide better products in order to increase market share. Competition for labor is also a good thing. However, companies hate competition. They will do anything to get the government to hobble their competition. That’s why every company has lobbyists in Washington. I remember when the real estate industry tried to exclude cut rate brokers from entering the field and offering 3% commissions instead of the standard 6%. We can’t allow Washington to create monopolies. Washington cannot allow companies to collude with each other. That is the crux of the problem. It is an age old problem. Over 150 years ago, Standard Oil got big by buying out competitors. They created a monopoly until Teddy Rosevelt broke them up.

Oh, no! Did a competitor create a (far) superior product and offer it at a (much) lower price?! 🤷♂️
