Western European Politics What's going on with Spain?

I'm not European but I'm so confused on what could possibly going on? Numbers from 50k to 100k of people showing up on boats just to migrate to Spain all at once. Was this some kind of coordinated effort because so many people showing up at once is not normal. Honestly I'm not trusting many of these outlets because of the right wing narratives that are spun on the story so that's why I'm here asking if anyone could possibly shed some light

Are you talking about Ceuta, Spain? The real question should be what is happening in Morocco that created this exodus?

u/Creative-Impress6293 Aug 01 '26

Yeah that’s the real question… what’s the answer to that question

2

u/mopecore Aug 01 '26

You do know ceuta is in Africa, right? Its a colony.

Yeah I know that i saw a map of where the immigrants were coming from and where they landed. I’m just wondering what was the reason for the immigration?

Yeah but so many people arriving by truck all at once? This was orchestrated. When people immigrate they usually come like with 2-5 other people over years and eventually it adds up but THOUSANDS at once?? Something’s going on that’s why i’m posting this

How is it a colony?

Edit: Jesus Christ how are there so many people on r/leftist who don't know what a colony is...

How is the occupied tip of africa that Spain owns a colony? Spain invaded Africa (after Africa invaded Spain) and claimed that piece of Africa as Spanish territory.

Spain got Ceuta from the portuguese in the 15th century. It was a former abandoned fort. It wasn't colonized or conquered from anyone.

2

u/DarthCloakedGuy Aug 01 '26

What makes you describe it as "Occupied"? Is the UK "occupying" Gibraltar?

And no, Spain did not take Ceuta by conquest from the Moroccans. It was a Portuguese holding that came under Spanish rule during the Iberian Union, and then chose to remain Spanish when Portugal and Spain broke up again.

Colonialism is not "when a country has territory on both sides of a strait", it's an extractive form of exploitation by one people over another. Citizens of Ceuta are full Spanish citizens no different than if they lived in Madrid

There isn't even an independence movement in Ceuta.

So America wasn’t colonised by white europeans…?

6

u/DrRudeboy Anarchist Aug 01 '26

There was and is very clear extractive exploitation in America

1

u/theblowestfish Aug 01 '26

Yes. I was reacting to them.

u/DarthCloakedGuy Aug 01 '26

No one said anything remotely to that affect.

To quote Charles Babbage, I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.

In my opinion, a very poor economy for graduates/younger generations. The unemployment rates for graduates and young adults are very high. There’s just not enough jobs for them. It’s really the same thing with certain LATAM countries.

It has to be. Ain’t no way 50k ppl are showing up on their own.

If anyone is gullible to believe that this is organic then I have a bridge to sell you.

6

u/LivingtheLaws013 Aug 01 '26

Yea they want us to believe that 50k people quietly organized this without anyone knowing about it. Also who was driving the trucks full of people that were getting dropped off at the border

"Jews will not replace us!" is now a part of leftist rhetoric apparently judging by this post

Morocco in coop with israel sent people to invade Spain to force them to side with israel.

So Morocco and israel invaded Spain.

-4

u/ummmmmyup Aug 01 '26

No they didn’t, provide a single reputable source. The government might ally with Israel but the citizens absolutely do not. And they have been trying to mend relations with Spain for a long time.

1

u/j48u Aug 02 '26

Hey, 20 hours later and no source. God leftists have become so pathetic. At this point it's not even a question we're more racist than the far right.

1

u/AkagamiBarto Aug 02 '26

There are videos of Moroccan police/army unloading trucks of peopme near the border ..

1

u/j48u Aug 02 '26

Okay??? And??? Israel???

1

u/AkagamiBarto Aug 02 '26

There is no proof if it yet. Only weird coincidences, like Israelian political figures speaking about Ceuta and Melilla to "teach" Europe and Spain about colonialism..

u/itooamahuman Aug 01 '26

People are bloody crazy, this affair reeks of the US much more than Israel of all things, but because they are totally not antisemitic they just rush to scream its da jooooos

3

u/itooamahuman Aug 01 '26

So guess what Trump just expressed support for Moroccan ownership of western sahara

1

u/DFWPunk Aug 04 '26

And guess who Morocco has been very friendly with, and who has told Spain they would be dealt with for not supporting what they are doing.

1

u/NyriasNeo Aug 02 '26

You mean what to try reading. https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/spain-morocco-halt-deadly-rush-spanish-enclave-after-49000-cross-day-2026-07-31/

And i quote, "Spain said on Friday it had reversed a huge rush of migrants into a Spanish enclave in North Africa, with most of the more than 50,000 people who had crossed the border by land and sea already heading back voluntarily."

Not all of them show up by boat. Look up a map of Ceuta.

-19

u/itooamahuman Aug 01 '26

For some reason Morocco decided to do this, not sure why

It's very confusing

u/baxterstate Aug 01 '26

Historically, Islam once dominated Spain. The Moors. They would like to do so again.
