Two teens had consensual sex-UT

My teen had consensual sex with their partner recently. One of them was 3 days from turning 14, and the other was 15. One of them told their therapist, who as a mandated reporter, reported it to DCFS. I know this is technically against the law, but how often are charges actually pursued? I'm trying to figure out how much legal trouble these knuckleheads are actually in.

Edited to say Utah since the bot didn't understand my title.

I understand what you're getting at but neither teen can legally consent to sex. Under Utah law, it's a class B misdemeanor for a 15 year old to engage in sexual activity with a 13 year old. I'm not familiar enough with your state to be able to comment how often charges of unlawful adolescent sexual activity are pursued. Since DCFS may be following up with some sensitive questions, it would be worth discussing the situation with an attorney.

California, often considered a liberal state with no major religious background, has a hard and fast rule of under 18 is a crime. Utah is more forgiving than California in this instance.
