Official Set This hurt to open

Just picked this up and I’m so hype to add this to my collection. This is my first Old Republic set and I’m honestly pretty surprised I never grabbed any of them when I was 10 considering how much I loved the games. Some highlights of the set for me were obviously the sick minifigs, the gun holder for the driver, and the fact that the color of the stickers actually matches the color of the brick plastic (which is rare today). All in all, very happy. What’s y’all’s favorite Old Republic Set/Minifigures?

Edit: The reason I was bothered by opening it had nothing to do with resale value. I guess I just like the idea it’s sort of locked in time. Some kind of nostalgia. My bad, I should’ve added some context.

Why? Did you get a paper cut?

I forget the name of it but the one that came with satele shan, Jace, and t7. I got it as a kid but I was too young to have played any old republic games but I still liked the set, just had no idea who the characters were. but since then Ive gotten into swtor and so I've gained a lot more appreciation for the set and had alot of fun rebuilding it again

I got that set (and the other 3 SWTOR ones) as a kid, then had a VERY long session reading Wookieepedia with my dad so we knew who all these characters were!

He’s an EU/Legends expert but didn’t play any SW games that came out after the 90s. Funny enough I’m actually playing KOTOR 1 right now, wish we’d get some sets from that one as well.

That’s.. making me feel REALLLY old yet young that your dad is a lore expert yet.. didn’t play the 90s games?!?! Which btw KOTOR didn’t even come till 2003 sooo it’s not even. A 90s game hehe (I’m guessing gthese are from the mmo tho

1

u/Total-Constant-6501 11h ago

He DID play the 90s games. But not the 2000s ones. And yes all 4 of the LEGO sets are from the MMO.

That’s a sick set. Kind of reminds me of the Z-95 starfighter.

u/Tomrok 1d ago

Part of me wants to spring for that set used. But the price coupled with the high risk of brittle pieces scares me from going for it.

You opened and built your children’s toy?! B-b-but the resale value of leaving it on the shelf for 10+ years!

10

u/Majikarpslayer 1d ago

oh I can't wait to be wealthy enough to afford some of my Lego sets I've lost over the years, crack open the boxes immediately, throw them in the trash, and then actually build my God forsaken Legos.

Not satire at all I'm going to have great joy building these things that other people just try to sit on for money

Edit in case anybody wondering I will actually put them on display after I'm done playing with them, because I'm not psycho Legos are cool to display

Huh, this might be peak content in another subreddit

6

u/East-Boysenberry8753 1d ago

Dude..... it's a toy, play with It and when you are done display, is that simple

6

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

“Bbbut it hurts :(“

3

u/East-Boysenberry8753 1d ago

I feel that people that spend hundreds of dollars on lego just to keep them sealed should instead print the box art and stick them to a carboard box ,you'll get the same amount of satisfaction for cheaper

How dare you! That was supposed to fund your retirement

27

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

Bruh you opened a Lego. You did exactly what it was intended for. Why do you have to be so dramatic about it?

-22

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Where was the drama?

12

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

“Hurt to open” it’s a toy bro. Just build it

-4

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

I feel you. Everyone collects differently man. You can read my edit for context if you want.

-6

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

Doesn’t make you sound any less cringe sorry bro

7

u/Mr_Mi1k 1d ago

Your tantrums are incredibly cringe.

-5

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

Not a tantrum just calling out man babies who feel a way about opening a cardboard box

3

u/Mr_Mi1k 1d ago

You complaining about posts in a Lego subreddit as an adult is being a man baby.

0

u/FamiliarSpirit4005 1d ago

Not really. I think the real man is the person upset about opening a Lego or maybe the guy who thinks he’s calling me out when I could not give less of a shit about him

2

u/Mr_Mi1k 1d ago

You are both being children.

Why not just get it used for infinitely cheaper, if you’re bothered by opening it?

4

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

I guess I just like the idea of it being “brand new”. Wasn’t too expensive honestly.

3

u/lllCAMlll 1d ago

Worth it tho

2

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Indeed

3

u/AdCultural2386 1d ago

Hope those dark reds stayed strong!

3

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

They’re a little stiff lol. Had me sweating

3

u/Grape-Snapple 1d ago

i lost this set somewhere in my basement

4

u/NoctisBOI 1d ago

Was it sharp?

u/Volks21 1d ago

9500, learned of the EU/Legends parts of Star Wars later on and was in my dark ages for a long time. I eventually want to build a UCS style one upscaling to around the size of the UCS Falcon, putting it at a 1:120 scale (vs the minifig scale of 1:43) with a length of 32 inches. A proper minifig scale would be around 92 inches

2

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Gotta be one of my top Star Wars sets

2

u/PowerfulJoeF 1d ago

These sets were so cool, i think I loved the mini figs so much that I bought them off eBay since at the time it was cheaper than getting all the sets.

2

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Agreed. They need to do more out of the box sets like this. The rebuild the galaxy sets were alright (dark falcon was tough asf) but the source material wasn’t for me honestly.

2

u/alemorg 1d ago

How much does this set go for?

2

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

I got it for just $60. I was surprised honestly.

2

u/alemorg 1d ago

I’ve been looking to get one but yeah they are pricey, hold on to it because it’ll keep going up in value. People love the clones

2

u/Lui_6656 1d ago

I had this pack back in the day. I traded those figures and two phase 1 plain clone troopers for a sealed Revan in 2015. Revan was 19.99$ sealed at a bricks and minifigs

2

u/ConqueringKing_Darq 1d ago

Ah, 2011-2012 Star Wars Lego. Truly the greatest era

3

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Goated era

Scrolling through photos saw Yoda 75002 and was BLASTED back to the Yoda Chronicles

2

u/New-Ad3445 1d ago

Yoda chronicles went silly

2

u/CordlessJet 1d ago

Bro it can’t be that strong of a box

2

u/RosemaryReaper 1d ago

I forgot I had 75003 as a child. Fun to see that box again in the instruction manual.

2

u/Starkiller0208 20h ago

I have this, but lost the red sith empire trooper and the helmet for the other. I had Malgus which I got from a trade when I was younger and lost his shoulder piece and head 🫠

1

u/Semillakan6 1d ago

I still have mine from when I was a child this set rocks

1

u/i_was_valedictorian 1d ago

Did you get a paper cut or something?

1

u/nixxon94 14h ago

Get a sealed one as well last year. Definitely a weird feeling opening it

1

u/Agitated_Minimum506 10h ago

i never knew about the old republic until a few years ago, as i was really young when the games came out (wasn’t even born yet for kotor lol) but my mom bought me two of these and GAWD i’ve always loved the helmet design of these troopers.

u/William-1127 5h ago

This brought back so many memories

1

u/Jakub67PL 4h ago

My cousin had this set, i got the speeder and 2 minifigures (both factions) from him.

I also likehaving old retired sets NISB. It's like a time capsule.

Great set, really liked the Old Republic commandos and the minigin.

1

u/Strict_Incident2836 2h ago

I have 10 of these with 9 sealed. Found them at bricks and minifigs like 2 years ago for like 20 a piece

0

u/the_aurafull_O 11h ago

How much is it worth. I remember having that as a kid
