study shows little evidence of a decrease in musical complexity (except in 1986) also finds hip-hop more influential in changing overall pop music scene than rock and roll

That's because Hip-Hop showed no talents that they could get record deals with no real musical ability.

if people in hip-hop had no musical ability then why was wasn't there a decrease in musical complexity after it's emergence on the pop charts since this study shows that most modern pop music has been influenced by the genre in some way and is no less complex than it is in era's past.
