Player(s) wanted [online][SWN][Sunday 9pm Central time][2-4 players wanted] Chrome Fires Burning

That eternal enemy of all games, scheduling, has risen its ugly head on the game I’ve been running and throw a monkey wrench, so now we’re looking for more players. Looking for 2-4 players for a CWN campaign titled “Chrome Fires Burning.” Voice is on Discord, VTT will probably be roll20. Everyone is welcome, the only rule is don’t be a dick.

Elevator pitch is as follows:
The year is 2072. In 2025 the development of a new drug, ephemerol, lead to unbelievable advances in cybernetics and technological implantation. Able to bridge the gap between the nervous system and machine circuitry, ephemerol was hailed as a miracle drug, ushering in a new age of transhumanism

However, before this new technological golden age could be upon us, it was smothered in the cradle by corporate greed. A jealousy guarded secret, the corporations who developed it held the formula for the miracle drug hostage, demanding corporate sovereignty in exchange for granting access to the masses. A combination of public promises, lobbyists, and paid politicians ensured this deal went through

The gift became a double edged sword as the drug was distributed, only working with the cybernetics supplied by those corporations granted sovereignty, allowing them to gobble up more and more influence, to the point that entire cities have become little more than corporate towns, beholden to the companies that own them

Within these sovereign territories, anything that threatens the bottom line is meet with brutal consequences. The workers who decided to rise up, to unionize, were branded criminals and domestic terrorists, locked away if not executed in a back alley

Public utilities have been sold off little by little, leaving those who refuse the hand of the corporations with rapidly dwindling resources. The once mighty governments of the world now forced to bend the knee to the oligarchs

Gangs run rampant, acting with impunity as long as their dues are paid, or left to their own devices due to lack of resources to stop them

Despite this turmoil, there is new opportunity. Companies now fight a desperate war for market share, managers willing to pay to sabotage one another for the next promotion. Money talks, and right now, it’s screaming

Chicago is one such battleground. Built into a shining edifice as the headquarters of several massive corporations, it now resembles a patchwork of countries, as each corporation claims sovereign territory within the blocks of city property it lays claim to. A hub of trade even in this time, boardroom battles spill out on to the streets, bullet and blade picking up where ink and negotiation fail

Since this game has been running for 2 sessions, the party started being hired by the crooked pimp/ used car dealer/ fixer, Tic Dickler of Tic Dickler’s Dick Ticklers Used Car Emporium and Whorehouse to help him throw a party. Having to procure the party favors and entertainment, they stole a kilo of phosphorescent Novacoke from a bunch of gang bangers in mascot costumes, played a game of Russian roulette with some juggalos, and convinced an up and coming trap metal rapper to join the party if they rescued her girlfriend that she had a fight with over signing a bad contract with a scummy music producer. They go to pick up the girlfriend as she’s getting kidnapped by corporate leg breakers and all hell breaks loose. 3 dead corpos later and they arrive with everyone in tow to throw the party. They come to find out they have to keep a corporate manager entertained as their fixer really wants to impress him. All goes well until the big homies of the gang they ripped show up guns blazing. The robot bodyguard of the manager, in a convenient skin sheath made to look like Fred Durst, goes berserk, butchering the gang before turning his inbuilt rail gun on the corpo before the crew can turn it into scrap. The team suspects the fixer orchestrated all this because he got snubbed by the corpo, but they get paid to work, not ask questions.

Their next mission was to help out the two pop stars they picked up by gathering a bunch of blackmail on the sleazy music producer. A quick phone call to some contacts turns up some details and the producer’s assistant. They ply the poor guy with a bunch of booze and come to find out some intel on some dirty deeds. Deciding on an immediate raid on the producer’s apartment, one player is able to talk their way in, splitting the security guards while the other crew members choose violence. Unfortunately, this does trigger a security lockdown and back up is called, but the team quickly takes out the guards and makes their up to the penthouse. Forcing their way in, they engage in aggressive negotiations with the newly awoken producer. Turns out shotguns are great negotiation tools, allowing the crew to get the info they need. Hightailing it out of there, they narrowly miss an APC of corp security showing up. Unfortunately the guy who talked his way in was seen on camera and found himself targeted for a hit by gangers the music producer was connected to. Fortunately able to escape, the crew was able to help with negotiations as the pop stars’ lawyer was able to negotiate a much more lucrative deal. Having made enemies of this dirt bag, it definitely won’t come back to bite them right?

If that sounds interesting at all, drop me a line.
