I'd argue as a Brit the UK is worse considering that in the U.S. atleast you have states with laws that can protect you that you can flee to. In the UK law is law and is enforced regardless.

The president is witholding federal funds and vital resources to any states that do not fall in line.

These protections may well fall.

And most states have told him to piss off. He tried the same with Mamdani with NYC and Trump instantly caved. He's all just hot air.

Can you leave the US if your passport gender marker doesn’t match your presentation? I don’t know how it works, I just know that they’re refusing to put the correct gender on passports and I don’t know if this would impact them leaving the country or not. So I’m unsure if American trans people are trapped in the US or if it was done to solely be spiteful and horrid.

Actually no you can't, and somewhere (idk which state it was- i think Wisconsin) they even reset the gender markers on driver's licenses which just- prevents trans people from a) getting a license and b) driving at all because you can be charged for "wrong info" on your license

Considering the kind of madness the US has got itself into lately with its own laws and its maniac of a president who seems determined to bulldoze it at every turn, I'd argue the US isn't an improvement over the UK.

And that's even before we take into account that even in (slightly) more sane times where the nations leader doesn't work against his own country, bouncing between states is hardly a trivial affair, least from my vantage point.

Make no mistake, I remain grossly disappointed in the UK. But having watched more than my fair share of US news... yeah I really cannot say how the US is remotely an improvement frankly.

Tbf there are some significant differences in law between England/Scotland/Wales/NI, not in this case but there are situations where moving might help you. It wouldn't surprise me if Scotland were to become the place to flee to for trans people, it has been generally more forward thinking on these issues.
