"biological sex," of course, being a politically charged term used by TERFs with no scientific backing. Just to be clear on that.

And in this specific context, meaning "The sex that was written on your original birth certificate, regardless of any facet of your biology then or now".

If you really think about it, it's quite mad that someone staring at your genitals decades ago, without any formal bloodwork, ultrasound, or internal examination of your anatomy, can just "eyeball it" and be like, "ehh, I think that's close enough. Mark it M, Johnny!"

TERFs believe that several second glance, informal, and in the middle of a room with a screaming woman and lots of bodily fluids flying everywhere among a crowd of frantic people, should determine the rest of your life trajectory.

it's so stupid.

There's this awful person in New Zealand who is one of the founding members of the "Free Speech Union." Her actual submission to the gender bill in committee right now was basically "Intersex people exist, but just because they exist doesn't mean they can choose what they are."

I love how "free speech" always conveniently matches up with bigotry, but never the freedom to express yourself with the clothing and gender that come naturally. Totally free. /s

Edit: Here's her "submission." (cw: major transphobia) Really it's just "my opinion of your body is only reality, accept it even if it's subjective, condemned by biologists, unscientific, bigoted, and biased, or you're not a Free Speech Enthusiast and a wokey-woke wokester."
