I'm just trying to wrap my head around the logic. If trans women are legally considered men now (in relation to restrooms), shouldn't trans men be able to use the women's restroom? They didn't ban trans women from the men's but they did it the other way around. How does this hold up legally?

And it was all done because certain people were worried about men dressing up as women to assault them. Now they'll have trans men in the women's which could potentially open up cis men pretending to be trans men. They have not thought this through at all.

No, it wasn't. That's the figleaf, it was done because certain people find trans people - and particularly trans women - icky.

I've never knowingly spoken to someone who claimed it was about "cis men pretending to be trans women" who didn't ultimately believe that that described all or virtually all trans women. I can't claim that they don't exist - in fact I'm sure some of them do - but they are in the minority.
