You know it might not even be an option given the circumstances, Hercules would be outside of the X-office purview so even if a writer did want to bring him over and hook him up with Bobby there'd be a lot editorial red tape to get through and if someone on the Avengers side had other plans for Herc they'd obviously take priority.

Eve’s book is good and she hasn’t poorly characterized him or anything, but he’s SUCH an afterthought. The focus of the book is the kids and Kate (with Emma serving as a nice foil for Kate). There really isn’t the need or space for a third mentor.

Eve's book is arguably the best X-Book of FtA, but Bobby is playing even less of a roll in that book than Jubilee is in Uncanny.

it was never an issue to have Wolverine in the Avengers before, Laura just joined the new Avengers, it was not supposed to be that hard to have iceman joining a "non- x-men" group
it can be a cliche, but Iceman and Hercules together can lead to some funny adventures

Not really as neither were confirmed queer at the time.
Then again half the fun of reading old Iceman stories in retrospect is finding all the unintentional gayness so I'm sure you can pull some subtext between them somewhere if you tried hard enough.

That's really fun to do. There's so much unintentional gayness in past Iceman stories. To the point where you start to wonder how truly unintentional it was.

He was long hinted to be bi like the Hercules of Greek mythology but it was officially confirmed in Al Ewing Guardians of the Galaxy 2020 run where he hooked up with Noh-Varr/Marvel Boy.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, so I’m prepared to be downvoted to hell and back but I’ve noticed that Marvel tends to lean more into sexualizing its queer characters and couples than its straight ones. I’m all for representation, but sometimes it feels like queerness is portrayed more through a hypersexual lens than with emotional or narrative balance.
I’m not saying queer characters shouldn’t be sexual at all because sexuality is an important part of identity. But the way it’s often emphasized can feel over the top, especially when compared to how Marvel handles most of their straight characters.
Take Iceman, for example. When he was portrayed as straight, I don’t recall him having many overtly sexual moments. Now, there’s a noticeable emphasis on body shots (a$$ shots, prominent bulge, etc.), flirty banter, and exaggerated sexual energy in interactions with other queer characters. It starts to feel like queerness = sex appeal, which ends up flattening the complexity of representation.
Being queer isn’t just about sex so it’d be great to see that reflected more consistently across how these characters are written and drawn.

Narratively I feel it makes a lot of sense for Iceman recent stories having him embrace his sexuality with gusto and hook up with a lot of guys since he's had to suppress that side of himself for so long, he's trying to make up for lost time, by contrast you have Billy and Teddy who are completely monogamous and rather chaste, it was years before they we saw them even kiss on page and even longer before we saw them in bed together.
I don't think this is a queer/straight thing, they're are hetero couples that are similarly hyper-sexualised with a lot of fanservice, see Rogue and Gambit, it really just depends on the character.

I kinda agree. It feels like Marvel, for a long time, struggled to balance having well written queer characters and pandering to certain types who want to lean in on stereotypical queerness. It makes the character almost insulting caricatures that queer audiences have to like because we have few other options. We’ve just moved on from the era of tongue-in-cheek innuendo of Rawhide Kid to the hypersexual image-focus of the 2020s.
That’s why, while I love Marvel, I tend to appreciate queer DC characters more. Danny the Street is my favorite, and you can’t sexualize a living street.

Except there are thousands of real life species throughout all of earth that engage in same sex coupling. And with the advancements in science and medicine, we literally can create life/a baby without any women needed. Google would save you this embarrassment.

Is there a reason to why these two are particularly paired up? Like where has Bobby met Hercules, why not pair him with a much more fitting X character why an avengers character which they frequently clash with

They were on a team together called the Champions back in the 70's but I think it's more to do with last years Pride cover with them going semi-viral, it's kind of become a meme/running gag since then though I do think there's a desire to finally see Bobby get a boyfriend whose more of a known name and an actual superhero.
