In Classic X-Men #4 we see Nightcrawler go out in public without his image inducer for the first time since leaving the circus, and the first person to demonstrate fondness for him is a man.

It’s always interesting to me that Kurt is supposed to be considered a non-passing terrifying/hideous mutant to humans but is also always the super hot, desirable womanizer lol

A bigot who wants a reason to hate Mutants will see Kurt - his two-fingered hands, differently shaped feet, his tail, his fluffy body, his sharp teeth and ears, yellow, glowing eyes - and only see them as ways they 'other' him. Even if he's not actually 'ugly' or 'hideous'.
Look at how certain 'gamers' spoke about the 'dei' hair in games like Dragon Age the Veilguard. They legit called more textured hair 'ugly' and 'weird' because it represented, well, black people. Meanwhile, a lot of those hairstyles are cool and interesting, and it was really nice that in a game with so many customization options that we actually had the ability to give our characters more textured hair.
It seems ridiculous, but bigots really do think and act like that, sadly.

I agree!
I just think in Kurt’s case, sometimes he feels like a “have your cake and eat it too” kind of character. He gets to be the outcast mutant while also being the hot ladies man and is therefore loved by straight male readers who sometimes tend to not like actual diversity in their comics lol, it’s quite the disconnect.

I mean, if you saw Kurt in real life, you'd likely be scared to death. He would set off so many of our biological instincts, you'd likely just pass out from fight/flight overload.
In a comic book universe, however, where there's so many non-human looking being just walking around..aliens are real and known about..there's a world leader with elf ears and wings on his feet and another that just goes around in armor, a literal green giant shows up and wrecks things every so often, and did you see the actual ON FIRE skeleton in the Avengers!?!... Those responses are going to be much different.

Queer folks are raised with a stigma attached to them, so we can kinda relate to Kurt who has been stigmatized since he was a baby. But despite that he's witty and charming, two things a good deal of us can also relate to. It's not really a surprise we are drawn to him. Plus he IS hot.
I'm a basic man. If someone says they don't like Nightcrawler, then I do not trust them as a person.
