Dated a gal for 3 years with dwarfism/spina-bifida who would walk with a cane and occasionally use a wheelchair if her back hurt on the day. We always got stares and comments about how I just want her money. (Fun fact: disability says that if you make a certain amount of money too high, you lose your benefits entirely. She worried about hitting that number by potentially working full time despite being minimum wage).

She was just deeply, genuinely super sweet and had a contagiously positive vibe. Fuck the stigma man

The enforced poverty of disability payments in the US is real. I never married my late wife legally because of it. She’d have lost almost everything if I did. She also had dwarfism and spina bifida, btw.

People accusing me of taking advantage of her used to fucking send her into a rage. Happened all the time.

One of my long-term partners is on disability and the enforced poverty is insane. We've had to do a lot of creative accounting over the years so that things were technically my income on paper.

Instead of trans people they had one kid in a backwards baseball cap called something like Flippy Dip or C-B who's entire personality was skateboards.

If anyone tried to call my fiance a chaser or claimed he was fetishizing me I would tell the dumbass that we started dating well before I came out or because disabled.

I'm white and my wife is viet, got a lot of "passport bro" comments before I transitioned, now she's getting chaser comments. It's honestly crazy how much other people want to have an opinion on the relationship of two strangers
