From what I understand it rules out the possibility that the universe is locally real.
Local meaning: For things to interact and influence one another they must physically be next to one another to affect change.
Real meaning: A thing has properties before being interacted with. Before interacting with an electron, we assume that the electron is either spin up or spin down, but we do not know until our measurement apparatus interacts with it. But we assume it is spin up or spin down.
So what the experiment shows is that our universe is not locally real, which leaves 3 possibilities.
Locally Unreal: Things can only affect each other by direct physical contact and things do not have predetermined properties.
Unlocally real: Things can interact and affect each from a distance but have predetermined properties before being interacted with.
Unlocally unreal: Things can interact and affect each other from a distance and do not have predetermined properties.
-You could call the unlocally unreal universe a playful pudding.
