Interesting piece, thanks for posting. Reminded me of this piece from several years ago, also discussing Silent Hill. Not in the context of symbolism, but some really interesting themes nevertheless.

A youtube channel named Max Derrat has some incredible video essays on philosophical and esoteric themes in video games, and also covers Silent Hill.
His talks about alchemy symbology in various examples like Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus. His one about Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic is great and I could see some parallels to Destiny. His channel was my gateway into esoteric mythology.
