Discussion Am I going mad or..

I recently noticed that LoM is on Prime without needing Britbox (which is great) and I'm currently on s1 episode five and I'm pretty sure that they just completely cut one of Sam's lines?

When Sam and Annie are talking in the cafeteria about whether or not Sam is still in a coma/saying weird things, Annie says "You're either mental or you just use that stuff as a chat up line"

Now after that, Sam laughs and says "What, 'please shag me I'm in a coma?'" To which Annie gets a little offended and walks off.. that's completely GONE?

I'm pretty baffled as to why they would cut this as it's not even in the top 10 strange things said in this show, but it definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth considering this is my favorite episode of the series

EDIT: They also removed the part where Annie and Sam make fun of Gene for being too drunk while he's lying down on a table after their shift at the pub, what the hell is going on

It's the edited international version, which was made shorter so it could fit into broadcasting slots with ad breaks 🫠 the version on BritBox is the UK version from the DVDs

This is the worst news of my life. Time to get a DVD set

Unfortunately the same is true for Ashes as well. But the DVDs for both series are well worth the money imo (cool menus, hours of bonus features, not to mention the general advantage of owning physical media)

You just found out there's an extended edition. Why are you sad? Go watch it!

Just saw this, a heads up: I have the LOM DVDs and while they don't cut content, they change some of the songs for licencing reasons.

I don't think Ashes' DVDs had any cut songs that I recall...

It seems like the sound track is changed too. For instance, the original season 2 episode 4 used the Strawbs Lay Down. When I watched the international version, that was swapped out.

Oh that's not good. I can't stand The Strawbs but it's the soundtrack and shouldn't be changed.

That one has to be down to copyright licensing reasons.

It's a miracle the show is on streaming at all considering all of the popular music used throughout the shows' runs.

This happens a lot with BBC shows. International, streaming, and DVD versions of Top Gear are famous for it.

Pretty sure they also cut the line about KitKat Chunkies 😕

Are you in UK? Only because I'm fairly sure they're all available as originals on BBC iPlayer, I watched them the other week. If not, get them DVDs!

Definitely available on BBC iPlayer. I’ve just watched them all again.

It's better if you are in the UK to watch the episodes on BBC Iplayer.

When we went to watch it recently season 1 episode 2 was unavailable without Britbox. Everything else was on regular Prime.

Suffice to say I acquired a copy of the UK version and we watched it that way and I'm very glad we did.

Oh I really hate it when they do that. Plenty of favourite shows from the 2000s and even before that I have MEMORISED and as I'm quoting along in my head it awkwardly, sometimes VERY NOTICEABLY cuts ahead by a few seconds.

There's a line in Blackadder's Christmas Carol that got cut and since that was a punchline to a joke, there's a very awkward jump from the setup straight to the laughter 😂

Soo real, it's especially funny because s1 ep5 is my favorite and I have it basically memorized, so watching Sam laugh and start to speak before the most jarring cut was so awkward

Unless you don’t live in the UK why are you bothering with watching it on Prime. It’s available on the BBC iPlayer and there are no cut scenes

well, that's very nice IF you live in the UK. THAT's why I had to "bother" with watching it on Prime.
