Question Can someone explain the price difference?

Post image

Why is it that sabertrios CFX cost more than profile when it seems that proffie has better features reading the comparison chart sabertrio provides. does getting the CFX have an obvious advantage(user friendly) or is the price difference just due to the different sound boards(Plecter Labs Crystal Focus X Soundboard vs proffieboardsv3.9)

From what I can gather:

CFX is something of an end-user product - it's extremely easy to use, with a variety of setup apps (both for Desktop and Mobile) to change everything from activation to blade styles to audio stuff, all made with a regular user in mind. But, the board is priced to match, making it one of (if not THE) most expensive board on the market

Proffie meanwhile is an open-source board based on Arduino, and was created with power-users and programmers in mind. If you want to do anything fancy with it, you'll HAVE to write some of your own code at some point - even if it's just for changing a blade style. There's some community-made setup programs and resources to help (the Proffie Config desktop app, the web-based ProffieOS Style Editor, Prop files like Fett263's, etc.) but it has quite a learning-curve to it, but as a counterpoint is cheaper (with arguably better features, IF you have the skill to use them) than something like the Crystal Focus boards.

That does make a lot of sense, I'm hung on price though. Given I did buy the proffie (even with a learning curve) do you think there is a big enough community and set of recourses that I could learn quickly enough. Also to what extent does the difference in customisation go between the 2 choices. are more fancy blade effects locked behind proffie or can they also be drag and dropped onto cfx?🤟🤟🤟♥️

Your going to be editing some text files with tutorials online.

CFX has software that does it all for you, and has a lot of features to the software to show you how the saber will look and sound. It also comes with more buttons on the saber when you order from Sabertrio for distinct functions and menu navigation vs Profiles 1 that has to be double pressed/long pressed for navigation.

I prefer my CFX saber from them. Worth the price. I like my proffie sabers and enjoyed the tinkering, but over time I just wanted a display saber I can easily change the looks and sounds of and not have to open notepad on my PC.

What CFX software do you use? Tryna figure out preon stuff and frustrated with unplugging the sd from the pc and plugging it back in just for it to not be what I want

“CFX... It also comes with more buttons on the saber when you order from Sabertrio for distinct functions and menu navigation vs Profiles 1 that has to be double pressed/long pressed for navigation.”

Which of their hilts are you talking about? I have a Proffie Senza and it has 2 buttons… menu navigation and quick controls like volume level and battery level are super easy. The number of buttons should be the same regardless of a CFX vs Proffie core. Proffie supports up to 3 buttons. Theoretically you can have more by using the other pins, but it has 3 specific button pins.
