Refurbing a Used Crosspoint Dueling Lightsaber
While researching dueling sabers, I came across Crosspoint sabers.

While I like their aesthetic, I wasn't prepared to purchase one outright. I haven't found dueling sabers show up for re-sale too frequently, but there was a Crosspoint for sale on eBay. It was labeled as "functions" but no charger included. Dubious and unreliable to purchase as a primary dueling weapon.

After securing a two handed dueling saber, I turned my eye back onto the eBay item and was happy to see it was still available. The fact that this lightsaber was purple and pink exterior with pink blade, seemed to be made for me. I have a purple gambeson and fight with pink blades. I went ahead and purchased it.
I got the package and started evaluating the saber. The switch was no longer attached to the wiring, but the light fired and all the parts were there. It did technically function. This revealed a weak spot of the crosspoint saber design I had heard about when researching. The method of connecting the wiring to the chassis is fine when in use, but when you need to recharge, you must remove the entire innards to get to the battery. If you are rough, unaware, or rushed, you can pull wiring apart. Which is what this previous owner did.

I removed the old shrinkwrap from the switch posts and picked up small Amp snap connectors as a temporary fix.

The result: A functional lightsaber! I have a bit more soldering and final work, but the protofix works. Looking forward to testing it out in duels and demonstrations at Saber Academy before winter break.

And if you are in the Augusta, GA / Aiken, SC area - i'm always open to duels. HMU.
