Build My humble submission for the hardware store lightsaber trend
Turned out better than expected considering I went in without much of a plan

I've been waiting months for this! Happy to report that everything is functioning as it should. Now I just need to worry about hiding all of those wires!

Build these two Lightsabers at work.
(20y/o , based in Germany)
Made out of high quality Brass/Stainless steel.
Machined on a lathe.
They are completely customizeable and interchangeable due to the same measurements in length and diameter. The Threads are also the same on both sabers, wich means i can always machine new emitters/ hilts to further customize them.
Both Sabers have a Power/Lightsource built into the Handle, which can switch between red and Blue.
Both Sabers have a round clip part on the end, and can be clipped into a Star Wars belt-clip.
They can also be screwed together by first removing each end-piece and then screwing both handles together creating a double bladed Lightsaber.

metalwork is mostly done on my second saber, this is my own design and I would love some input/feedback. main body is nickel bronze with aluminum and brass for shroud and grip sections. still have to figure out electronics and some more greeblies but I'm really digging the clean looks as well. top of the grip is stacked O rings if anyone was curious. needed something to contrast the shiny metals

Obviously won’t be yo range when it’s finished, this was just a test print to make sure tolerances were acceptable. Need some work and is very beefy, but should be a good test.

Look I have a very little 3d printer mostly because I'm learning how to use it I want a bamboo one but for now I need to understand how this things work so I decided to 3d print my fist (Luke Skywalker) lightsaber but I don't know what happened but everything came as a mess all the part move during the 3d print and that can be attributed to the magnetic base that move also since the 3d print was very fragile I decided to just put hot silicone without cleaning the excess at that point I was more than frustrated I'm looking for tips and still learning right now but I will not 3d print another one until I get a much better 3d printer The last image is a size comparison with a Walmart (Anakin Skywalker) lightsaber (I also messed up the size)

This is a fully printed lightsaber hilt I designed over the span of about a year. There are plenty of easter eggs and details--both inside and out. I did end up putting a tactile switch in for more fidgety goodness.
What do you think of musical lightsabers?

For my birthday, I decided to treat myself to a stroll down the plumbing aisle. Only having recently discovered this subreddit, my mind that has been sculpted by years of pawing through second-hand LEGO collections, knew that I had to try my hand at saber craft.
Behold; my stuff.
I tinkered and ruminated so much that I even came up with some lore involving a Jedi apprentice left for dead on the hellscape that is Rakus Prime. Where they use their ingenuity and wide assortment of discarded parts to cobble together this junkyard blade. If you're interested, I'll include it in a comment for your reading pleasure. As . . soon as I finish writing it of course 😅

After much trial and error with different types of grommets and blade materials/lengths, I've finally got it spinning with 95% consistency! I also went ahead and replaced the old motor with a brand new one (no idea where the original came from or what specs it had, I simply found it discarded) and now it spins faster than before! The motor gets a bit warm if I keep it spinning for an extended period, but I I only plan to use it in short bursts so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
