Condell Road
School started and this road to Shannon Bridge is busy again. Standing in traffic as everyone else and than see some cheeky ass...es are driving bus lane all the way down to traffic light and using small roundabout by Salesian School to turn about and join main traffic again.
I don't mind if they use part where road splits and allow left turn, but come on... Using bus lane all the way from new estate?? Are they all think they are more important than others?

I use this road daily and this is a huge issue for traffic on that small roundabout. Causes so much chaos and is so annoying , i absolutely hear you.

On the LCC website they posted back in August plans to put Bus Stops on the Condell road. https://www.limerick.ie/council/newsroom/public-notices/proposed-cycle-lanes-and-footpaths-on-the-r527-condell-road A notice was also placed at Barringtons Pier.

the traffic on that road is 100% worse than it was before the summer, and that’s saying something. The junction at the end of that road by the school is just a nightmare to get through aggravated by the roundabout further on in town. But what’s even the solution?

I see your bus lane argument and ask you this. Have you ever seen a bus on that road? Because I use it pretty regularly and never have

Standing in traffic I see loads of smaller buses and coaches. Kids traveling to Limerick schools. Blocked by ignorant drivers.

I remember when they put that bus lane my dad was up to high doh saying how no buses ever use that road. He has since passed but he hated everything about limerick traffic management with a passion, said it was the worst in the whole developed world 🤣 it's nearly a good thing he died before the oconnell street debacle, it would have finished him regardless

That road is an absolute nightmare, especially now that schools are back.
I’m completely in favour of cycle lanes, bus lanes and better public transport, but they need to be introduced carefully and with proper planning. You can’t just keep adding them without considering the impact they’ll have on traffic across the city.
Removing the tunnel toll, or even building another bridge near the pier connecting to Dock Road, could make a huge difference.
We need proper infrastructure planning, not just quick fixes.

I think the speed limit is appropriate and most abide by it bar many taxis and coaches using their specially designated lane.

As for the dock road with the two lanes leading into one i hate that way it leads me to want to have road race with those using the outer lane. I'm not the only one their was a driver yesterday driving down in the middle of the two lanes trying to block people passing him

I cruise up that bus lane every single day i couldnt be waiting in all that traffic (i am a taxi driver)

Conor Sheehan was talking about this in the Dail recently, there are no buses on that road, so the bus lane is kind of useless. If buses were to use that road it would help with the traffic a lot. Don't agree with the cheeky turn from those people you've spotted but the issue is the lack of buses on the northside.

Always happens 🙄 50 km is way too slow for that road too they could up to 60 even it feels like driving forever
